JOB INTERVIEWS

In applying for work in companies both state-owned companies and private


companies, we will not escape the recruitment process of job interviews or job interviews.
Usually the job interview stage is carried out after the prospective employees graduate at the
psychological test stage. But it could be that the job interview stage is carried out earlier
according to each company's recruitment policies and procedures. Job interviews are also
carried out in 2 stages, including job interviews with human capital division (Personnel or
HRD Division) and job interviews with users or the company's board of directors. For job
interviews with the board of directors, usually discuss things that are quite serious, including
your position and knowledge of the company you are applying for . While interviews with
HRD are usually only in the form of interviews that are written on a curriculum vitae (CV).

Job interviews are often considered trivial or easy by most prospective employees.
Though the job interview the same weight with the test psychological test. Why is that?
because not a few people or prospective employees who fail in passing the job interview
stage. According to research this is due to a lack of preparation and underestimation of job
interviews. Because job interviews are the most critical things to get the job you want, of
course you know that you have to prepare yourself as much as possible, both physically and
mentally. For this reason, before you embark on a job interview, you must prepare and
anticipate possible questions that the interviewer will ask you. And looking for the right and
right answer to the question. So that you might fail the job interview test is small. "Success
comes from preparation, mentality and prayer ".

The following are some tips for dealing with questions that are USUALLY asked at a
job interview:

1. Tell me about yourself

This is the question that is MOST often asked during interviews and is most
often answered incorrectly. Usually this is an opening question, so don't spend too
much time answering it. To be sure you have to realize that the interviewer is not
interested in knowing what you do on weekends or from which area you are from. The
interviewer tries to know you professionally. Prepare two or three points about
yourself, both your work experience and your career goals and stay consistent

Examples of incorrect answers:

I am 21 years old, I was born in Pandeglang, January 1, 1993. Children to 2 out of 5


siblings. My father is a civil servant, my mother is a housewife. My hobbies are
traveling, watching, reading comics, and so on .

A true example

I am an optimist, hard worker, creative, and have high initiative. I was able to work
independently as well as work together in teams. Sometimes I like to forget would be
small things, but to cover my weakness, I always prepare a small notepad to record
everything so as not to forget. ( this weakness is well-packaged).

2. Why should we hire you?

Briefly and clearly describe the strengths you have, your qualifications and what you
can contribute to the company. Be careful, don't give answers that are too general.
Almost everyone said they were hard workers and motivated. Give answers that show
the uniqueness that you have.

3. What can you give us (which others cannot give)?

Mention achievements and career paths that you have achieved. Mention abilities
and things that interest you, combine them with your history of achieving those
things. Mention your ability to determine priorities, identify problems, etc.

4. What do you find most interesting about this job? And what is the least interesting?

Mention three to four interesting factors of the job you want to take and one small
thing as a less attractive factor.
5. What are you looking for in a job?

Give answers that revolve around opportunities (opportunities) in the organization.


Let the interviewer know if you want to contribute and be recognized. Avoid answers
that concern personal financial stability.

6. In your opinion, what is the definition of the position you want?

Give brief and ranged answers about duties and obligations. Make sure you understand
the position before you want to answer.

7. What is your experience in this field?

If you are a fresh graduate and have no experience at all, just answer honestly. But add
a statement that you are a person who likes to learn new things / challenges and is a
fast learner. If you do not have experience in that field ( will but have experience in
other fields). Meaning: Answer as specifically as possible about your expertise in the
field that you are applying for . If you do not have special experience at least give
answers that approach the expertise in question.

Example: You apply in the field of Marketing while your experience in Public
Relations. Just answer if you have basic excellent communication skills while working
as PR which is certainly the capital to interact / communicate with customers.

8. What do you know about this company?

This question is also quite often asked. That's why it's very important to do a
background check on the company that you are applying for . What sector is the
company engaged in? How is the achievement? The Market Range ?, Etc. This
information can be obtained via the internet, company website / profile, or even better
than "insiders" who work at the company.

9. Why do you want to work at this company?

Be careful answering this because it requires your knowledge of the company and the
long-term career you want to achieve. The answer to this question must be considered
first and also must be based on "background checking" that you have done about the
company. Sincerity in answering will be very visible in this question. So, answer with
answers related to your long-term career goals.

10. How long do you need to make a meaningful contribution to us?

Give realistic answers. Tell the interviewer that although you will try to overcome all
hopes and challenges from day one, you need about six months to really understand
the organization of the company and its needs.

11. Do you know anyone in this company?

Be careful answering this one. In certain companies there are policies regarding this. If
you find out about these vacancies from friends / family, ask them first about the
policies in the company.

12. How much salary do you want?

This question is the most difficult question especially for those who do not have
enough work experience. What you need to do before the interview is to find out the
salary market for the position offered so that you can provide answers to these
questions. Tell the interviewer that you are open to talking about compensation when
the time comes. If forced, give answers in the form of a range of numbers, not
specific numbers. Stress that you prioritize the work but don't sell your standards.

13. Could you work in a team ?

Always answer "YES". This will add your plus points. Don't forget to prepare an
example when asked for evidence. Mention experiences you will ever make when
working together with many people.

14. If you are accepted to work here, how long do you plan to work at this company?

Tell the interviewer that you are interested in a career with the company but you want
to remain challenged to achieve common goals.
15. What are your strengths / strengths? (Your greatest strength)

The key is to stay positive. Choose your potential that is relevant to the field of work
for which you are applying . Avoid responses that state that you are hard-working.
Better, respond in the form of, "I am always enslaved to the list of jobs that I make
myself. Because, I do not want to go home before work in the office all done. " Or for
example your ability to manage priority scale, ability to solve problems, your positive
behavior, ability to work under pressure or ability to organize, your ability to focus on
work, your ability to lead a team, and so on.

16. What are your weaknesses / weaknesses?

The secret to answering these questions is to be honest about your weaknesses, but
don't forget to explain how you turned those weaknesses into strengths. Never
answer if you are lazy or have difficulty getting up in the morning. Answer
diplomatically, such as "I lack confidence when speaking in front of many people,
but at the moment I am in the process of overcoming it because it is closely related to
my career going forward and I am sure I can overcome this", or "My weakness is I
can't work alone , so we have to build a solid teamwork ". The point after saying
your weaknesses, include the effort you have made to overcome your weaknesses.

17. How do you solve the problem?

It's not easy to give answers if you get questions like the one above, especially if you
have just graduated and don't have work experience. The interviewer wants to see if
you can think critically and develop solutions without seeing the type of problem you
are having, even if you do not have enough time to deal with the problem at hand.
Describe the steps you took to prioritize work. This shows that you are responsible
and can still think clearly even when facing problems.

18. Are you willing to work overtime / overnight / on weekends / at any time if needed?

The answer to this is yours. Please answer honestly and give the right reasons.
19. What achievements are you proud of?

The secret to the above questions is to select and select specific achievements related
to the position being offered. Even if you have won basketball at school, this is not the
expected answer. Provide answers that are more professional and more relevant. Think
about the qualifications needed by the company and develop examples that show how
you can meet the company's needs.

20. What have you done to develop your knowledge / abilities this last time?

It is better not to fabricate answers, because later proof will be required. This question
can be answered as follows: "I attended seminar A , training B, read a lot of self-
development books, took part in social activities, joined organizations, etc.". Or by
mentioning the variety of positive activities that you have done, of course, related to
your career achievement.

21. Do you have a question for me?

Always prepare at least two questions focused on this new office . This shows the
positive and enthusiastic impression that you joined the company. Examples of
questions such as the job description that you are going to go through, the scope of
work, the company market, or what kind of project the company is currently doing .
