Activity 8 - Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient
Compute for the Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient of the following data set.
Interpret the results.
1. The body temperature (upon time of collecting the blood sample) (x) and the
blood sugar level (y) of 10 randomly selected adults.
Table:
x y rx ry d d^2
36 1.8 7 10 -3 9
37.2 5.9 1 1 0 0
36.7 4 3 3 0 0
36.2 2.3 5.5 7.5 -2 4
36.3 3.6 4 4 0 0
35.6 2.3 9.5 7.5 2 4

37.1 5.3 2 2 0 0
35.9 2.6 8 6 2 4
35.6 2.7 9.5 5 4.5 20.25
TOTAL: 362.8 32.7 53.5

INTERPRETATION:
The higher the body temperature, the higher the blood sugar level and the lower the body
temperature, the lower the blood sugar level of 10 randomly selected adults.
2. The weight (x) and the accuracy (y) of 10 randomly selected cadets when using
police standard sidearm.

INTERPRETATION:
There is a very low positive correlation which means that there is an almost negligible
relationship between the weight and accuracy of shooter.
The heavier the weight of a person, the higher the accuracy of shooter and the lighter the
weight of a person, the lower the accuracy of shooter.
