2 to take our lesson seriously. With this, we ensure that we get what we

3 deserve to learn. Remember, learning lies in our very hands. By the

4 way, just wanna remind you that you are not allowed to write anything

5 on the modules. Instead, please use your pen and notebook to answer

6 the activities provided. Again, I want you to have with you your module,

7 pen and notebook. Of course, if you have other reference materials

8 to supplement your learning, that would be great!

9 Handle the modules with care and return them on the scheduled date.

10 Ask your parents or guardians for assistance if you fail to catch some

12 concepts in this recording. We are in a class-home setup.

13 As we start the lesson, find a comfortable place to process

14 the things being discussed. Keep yourself away from any distractions

15 to stay focused. All right! I bet we are all set!

2 Wouldn’t it be easier for us to solve problems

3 or give a good opinion about something if we listen analytically?

4 All right! For today, we are expected to define analytic listening

5 and employ analytic listening in problem solving. These objectives

6 . are based on Quarter 1 of the Most Essential Learning

7 Competencies in English 10. Also, you are expected to have with

8 you Module 5. To fire us up, let’s try answering first the pre-test on page 2.

9 Nice! As you noticed, you will be using analytical listening in our

10 activities, so you should know first what analytical listening is

11 and how it is different from other forms of listening. These are our learning targets

12 But, before that, kindly turn your module to pages 3 and 4

13 and answer the activities given. ( PAUSE)

14 Now that you have answered the activities. I guess you

15 have now at least established what to focus on for today.

1 Let’s zoom in to listening. According to International Reading

2 Association, listening is the process of receiving, constructing

3 meaning from, and responding to a spoken and/

4 or non-verbal message. There are four types of listening; namely:

7 To understand these better, I want you to follow me on page 4 as I

8 read their definitions. ( TEACHER READING)

9 Ears up for more tasks. I want you to listen analytically to the

10 audios that I will be playing. Turn to page 6 and answer the questions

11 that follow on your notebook. Ready?

1 Remember, Critical or analytical listening is listening to evaluate a message

2 for purposes of accepting or rejecting it. It asks you to make

3 judgments based on your evaluation.

4 Remember that it’s not always listening to respond.

5 We listen to understand. And if we understand each other

6 we make the world a better place for us all.

7 This time, to assess or test our listening skill, let’s listen and answer

8 the task. Please turn your module to page 8 and listen to an audio

9 that will tell you the 4 differences between good and toxic friends

10 I want you to reflect and analyze how toxicity slowly destroys

11 relationships. Answer the questions that follow.
