Practicum
8/26/2023

This week I decided to jump all in and complete my practicum at NMC. To be honest,

this is way out of my comfort zone, I am from a small church with about 200 people and I will

now be leaving my home church to attend a church with over a thousand people! I have helped

in youth ministry at my home church, but not in the way that I will be at NMC. I am very

thankful for the ability to grow in my faith and to lay the foundation of my ministry! In the

reading this week a lot of things stuck out to me, but the biggest thing was understanding how to

get out of your own way so that God can lead.

The quote that spoke to me the most from the reading is “It’s full of wisdom for people

who want to get out of their own way and become who they were created to be”. This really

spoke to me for Gods plan to come to fruition, you must put aside what you want. Jesus calls us

to take up our cross and to follow him. It is not easy to put aside what you want, in fact, it is

incredibly hard. To be like Jesus is not easy, to pick up your cross is not easy to do, to love is not

easy. The point is, getting out of your own way and becoming who you are created to be is very

difficult and often involves pain and struggle.

I have not started my practicum yet, so I do not have anything to say about it. However, I

will ask for prayer as I leave the comfort of my own church and jump into something completely

new!
