Construction guidance for illumination of the Enterprise NX 01 1:1000

1. All of the parts of the model should be

painted in black on the inside to make
them lightproof. After that it should be
repainted with another reflecting paint to
in increase the light reflection of the
surface

2. Drill the windows you want to illuminate.

3. For the Impulsengines you have to cut

out the plastic.

4. Install the LEDs in the upper half of the

saucer and wire them.
5. Drill the holes for the navigation lights
and glue the optical fibre into it.

6. Install the 1.8 mm blue LEDs for the

impulseengines and the sensordome.
Also lay the wires for the warp nacelles
and the optical fibre for navigation lights
trough the pylons.

7. Connect the optical fibres to the 2 mm

tower LED’s.
8. Install the power connection into the
lower main hull.

9. Wire and glue both main hull parts

together.

10. Cut the warpgrills out and glue the outer

half’s of the warp nacelles to the pylons.

11. Install the LED’s into the warp nacelles. After that you can build the model kit ready.
Tips and General Regulations:

→ The general security standards have to be followed. We cannot be hold responsable for damages
caused by improper usage or handling.

→ During the assembling of the model the delievered manual of the manufacturer has to be respected
with priority. The manual for the installation of the illumination only gives instructions to install the
illumination parts.

→ Basically the order of the single steps to install the illumination and to assemble the single parts can
be chosen freely.

→ All of the glued spots should be closed and filled properly to avoid light leaks. For that purpose you
can buy special body filler, but it is also possible to achive the same effect with wood glue.

→ It is recommendable to put bubble wrap behind the clear-sighted parts of the model. This will avoid
that the LEDS will be visible while switched off and will break the light when switched on. You can also
mist up the clear-sighted parts in order to achive the same effect.

→ The LEDs and the wiring should be checked frequently on their functioning during the assembling.
Especially before you have glued and definitely closed the parts.

→ If you use DC you have to bear in mind that the resistances of the LEDs have to be soldered to the
same base to guarantee the functionality of all the LEDs. You also have to consider the + and the –
poles when wiring the LEDs.

→ The illumination set is designed for a 9 – 12 voltage. Every standard power supply unit can be
used.

→ The installation of the position lights and the shuttle illumination is optional.

→ The single parts can vary in form and color from the pictures shown in the manual.

Wiring of the LEDs

The wires have to be soldered to the copper contacts of the LEDs Stripes. Every Stripe can be
controlled seperately. The Stripes also can be soldered in a row (as shown in the picture) in order to
save wire.
