THE SEARCH FOR MR. AND MS. STI


(Local Level Pageant Competition)

COMPETITION
The entrant demonstrates personality, intelligence, and overall presence as they embody the
ideal STIer and become the epitome of an STI ambassador and ambassadress.

COMPETITION OBJECTIVES
All throughout the competition, students are expected to:
1. Confidently present themselves in front of a live audience, as assessed by judges’
feedback and self-assessment, with no visible signs of nervousness or hesitation;
2. Demonstrate critical thinking skills by providing logical and well-structured answers to
judges’ questions, as evaluated by judges scores;
3. Demonstrate enhanced communication skills as assessed by judges’ feedback and
audience engagement, showing improved clarity, confidence, and impact in their
message delivery;
4. Exhibit respectful behavior and sportsmanship by gracefully accepting contest outcomes
and receiving no warnings or penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct from competition
officials; and
5. Adhere to competition guidelines, mechanics, and committee rulings with no instances of
rule violations regardless of whether they receive guidance from peers, coaches, or event
organizers.

COMPETING INDIVIDUAL
Entrants for the “Mr. STI” category are students enrolled in any STI program who are assigned as
male at birth, single, and with no children. For the “Ms. STI” category, entrants are students
enrolled in any STI program who are assigned as female at birth, single, and with no children.

MECHANICS
1. Each entrant will compete in the following:
i. Elimination Round
1. Casual Wear
2. Swim Wear
• Ms. STI entrants should have a shawl, sarong, or “tapis” as a cover-up.
This should not be removed at any point in the round.
• Mr. STI should wear board shorts
3. Formal Wear
ii. The top 4 Mr. & Ms. STI will advance to the Final Round and will compete in the
following:
1. Question and Answer portion

2. Over-all Appeal

2. Entrants will be ranked in each of the three events namely Casual Wear, Swim Wear, and
Formal Wear. The average rank of each entrant per event will be added to determine the
Top 4 Mr. & Ms. STI candidates.

3. In the final round, all scores are reverted to zero. Entrants will be judged based on their
wit in the Question-and-Answer portion and their Over-all Appeal.

4. The ranking in the Question-and-Answer portion will be added to the ranking of the Over-
all Appeal score to determine the winners.

5. The entrants who garnered the highest points based on the judges’ averaged score will
be declared Mr. and Ms. STI while the succeeding candidates will be declared the 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd runner-up, respectively.

6. In case of a tie, the scores of the Chairman of the BOJ shall determine the winner. If the
scores of the Chairman of the BOJ are still tied, the Chairman of the BOJ will break the tie.

7. While the results are being audited by the Secretariat Committee, the BOJ shall give their
general feedback and inputs to the entrants. After which, the time for the declaration and
awarding of winners are announced, and this competition is declared closed by the
Competition Committee.

8. The Board of Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.

9. The following acts before and after the conduct of the competition are grounds for
disqualification and if declared as a winner, revocation of their given title:
• Prostitution or any form thereof
• Participation in any obscene, lewd, or X-rated exhibitions whether print, stage, on
television, in movies, or any internet scandal.
• Occupation as a “Guest Relations Officer,” host, hostess, or any similar capacity in
“girlie” joints and gay bars.
• Conviction or had served jail terms due to a criminal offense.
• Other similar acts that constitute morally damaging publicity

BOARD OF JUDGES
The Board of Judges (BOJ) shall be composed of three (3) members from the public or private
sector and/or industry with a proven track record as practitioners (e.g. pageant winners, pageant
organizers, or pageant directors). The members of the BOJ should be selected with due
consideration of their notable track record, strong community reputation, and integrity. Their
individual prominence and collective authority should significantly enhance the spirit of healthy
competition and a sense of excellence, which the competition seeks to foster.

Minimum Qualifications
A member of the Board of Judges must:
1. have significant knowledge and a clear understanding of the judging criteria; and
2. handle tasks similar to or related to the nature of The Search for Mr. and Ms. STI
competition.

Duties and Responsibilities


A member of the Board of Judges must:
1. be at the competition site thirty (30) minutes before The Search for Mr. and Ms. STI
competition;
2. provide the school with a copy of his/her most recent résumé for proper recognition;
3. familiarize oneself with the relevant sections of the Talent Search General Guidelines as
well as this competition mechanics;
4. have an understanding of the physical environment of the competition area with special
consideration of the school’s available resources;
5. serve as witness and arbitrator among parties during the proceedings to settle questions
on:
a. acceptability or unacceptability of entrants’ performance or questions on
technicality (compliance or non-compliance with the competition mechanics).
b. the qualification or disqualification of entrants based on this competition
mechanics.
c. other matters that are not clearly indicated in the Talent Search Guide and
Implementing Guidelines or this competition mechanics.
6. be willing to provide feedback to the organizers and students for further development of
the competition.

JUDGING CRITERIA
I. For the Elimination Round:
CASUAL WEAR
The Casual Wear competition seeks to find the STIer who looks fresh,
chic, and edgy in simple everyday clothes. Entrants are judged on how
captivating the casual wear looks on them and how they exude their
effervescent charm, confident poise, and bubbly personality on stage. Scoring range:
SWIMWEAR 70 to 100
The Swimwear competition seeks to find the STIer who looks athletic,
fit, and fashionable in his or her swimwear. Entrants are judged on
their excellent form, remarkable physique, and confident poise
wearing the appropriate attire.

FORMAL WEAR
The Formal Wear competition seeks to find the STIer who is Scoring range:
fashionably elegant. Entrants are judged according to how they exude 70 to 100
class and gracefulness in their formal attire.
TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS 70-100 POINTS

II. For the Final Round:


QUESTION & ANSWER (Q&A) PORTION (60%)
The Question-and-Answer portion challenges entrants to come up
with logical responses, convey them clearly and concisely, and still
maintain their composure throughout the portion. Entrants are
judged on the substance and appropriateness of their answer and
their manner in responding. Scoring range:
70 to 100
OVER-ALL APPEAL (40%)
This refers to the candidates’ attractiveness, charm, and captivating
qualities that make them stand out from the rest. The contestant’s
score will be given after the Q&A Portion. This gives the judges a final
look at the finalists.

TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS 0-100 POINTS

FILING OF PROTESTS
Only the entrants may file protests to the BOJ during the competition. Protests must be based
on one (1) or more of the following circumstances: violation of competition rules, misconduct by
other entrants, or gross misconduct by contest officials. The BOJ shall resolve controversies and
objections immediately before the conclusion of the competition. The decision of the BOJ is final
and irrevocable.
