ASSIGNMENT – 4

1. A polynomial of degree five is divided by a quadratic polynomial. If it

leaves a remainder, then find the degree of the remainder.

2. Check whether 3x – 7 is a factor of polynomial 6x3 + x2 – 26x – 25?

3. If x3 + x2 – ax + b is divisible by x2 – x, write the values of a and b.

4. Using division, show that 3y2 + 5 is a factor of 6y5 + 15y4 + 16y3 + 4y2 +
10y – 35.

5. If the polynomial 6x4 + 8x3 +17x2 + 21x + 7 is divided by another

polynomial 3x2 + 4x + 1, the remainder comes out to be (ax + b), find a
and b.

6. Find all zeroes of the polynomial (2x4 – 9x3 + 5x2 + 3x – 1) if two of its
zeroes are (2 + √3 ) and (2 - √3).

7. Find all zeroes of the polynomial 3x3 + 10x2 – 9x – 4 if one of its zero is 1.

8. If -1 and 2 are two zeroes of the polynomial 2x3 – x2 – 5x – 2, find its

third zero.
