Rationale for 3 Situations

a) Providing nursing care to adults and seniors was given a 7. My practice so far has been

exclusively with the paediatric population, so I’m not very familiar with adult-/senior-

related health issues and do not have much experience with the care provided for them.

With prompting from colleagues I believe I would be able to adequately provide the care

needed, but I do need to review adult/senior disease processes and treatment plans.

b) Participating in code blues or other emergency situations was given a 4. Although I have

not experienced many codes in my practice, those I have been in are nerve-wracking at

first. However, I have been able to step away from the emotional side of things and found

good critical thinking pathways that allowed me to prioritize and focus on steps needing

to be taken instead of being overwhelmed.

c) For both teaching situations, I gave them a 2. I feel very comfortable teaching both peers

and patients and their families. Previously, I spent time working as a peer tutor in nursing

school and found teaching to be a passion of mine. I hope to eventually find a role that

focuses primarily on teaching and education.
