NAME: _Carlos Lorenzo B. Villanueva __________ DATE: October 1, 2023______

COURSE/YEAR & SECTION: _BSA22____________ PROF.: Ms. Carmela Reyes__

OBJECTIVES:

1. Compute and interpret the point and interval estimates of parameters.

2. Compute and interpret the length of the interval formed.
3. Solve each problem using Microsoft Excel.

TASKS

Read and understand each item carefully, use Microsoft Excel as a tool to solve each problem. (10 points each)

1. The contents, in milliliters (mL), of 16 similar bottles of Strawberry Wine found in the market of Baguio City are as
follows: 498, 490, 502, 500, 500, 492, 493, 501, 503, 489, 495, 504, 500, 500, 496 and 506. Assuming the contents is
normally distributed, determine the following:

a. the good point estimates of the mean, variance and standard deviation of the contents of all bottles of
Strawberry Wine.

Table 2: Computation for 95% CI for Mean Contents of All the Bottles

The table suggests that the Mean Contents of all Strawberry Wine bottles will fall within the 95%
Confidence Interval, specifically ranging from 495.36 to 500.76.

c. The length of the 95% CI Interval for the mean contents of all the bottles of Strawberry Wine.

C. Length of the 95% CI Interval for the mean contents

Interval 5.40

Table 3: Length of the 95% CI Interval for the Mean Contents of All the Bottles

The table indicates that the 95% Confidence Interval for the Mean Contents of all Strawberry Wine bottles is
5.40. This value is determined by calculating the difference between the upper and lower limits of the interval.

2. The price of a 10 mL dishwashing liquid in 10 selected stores are 9.8, 10.2, 10.4, 9.8, 10.0, 10.2, 8.5, 8.9, 10.0 and 9.6
liters. Find a 99% confidence interval for the mean price of the dishwashing liquid in all store, assuming an
approximate normal distribution for price.

Table 4: Computation for 99% Confidence Interval for the Mean Price of Dishwashing Liquids in Selected Stores

The table suggests that the Mean Price of Dishwashing Liquids in Selected Stores is estimated to fall within the
99% Confidence Interval, specifically ranging from 9.12 to 10.36. This conclusion was drawn after conducting a
descriptive analysis, which involved determining the mean, standard deviation, and sample variance, followed by
applying the formula to calculate the confidence interval.
