• Joy is an 8 year old female student in the 2nd grade. She is
having difficulty reading and writing as she could not match
letters to their sounds or combine letters in order to create
words. She is having difficulty completing her schoolwork
and is barely getting a passing grade in almost all her
subjects.

Goals and Objectives


1. Increase Joy’s reading and writing skills to match her grade
level
2. Develop Joy’s skills in phonemic awareness and letter
recognition
3. Increase Joy’s ability to combine letters to create words
4. Increase Joy’s ability to complete schoolwork and increase
her grades in all subjects
Accommodations/ Modification

1. Reduce the number of spelling words and/or reading comprehension passages


2. Provide Joy with additional time to complete school assignments
3. Provide Joy with a quiet space to work on her assignments
4. Provide Joy with verbal or written instructions to help her understand assignment

Evaluation Procedure
1. Joy should be evaluated regularly to monitor her progress.
2. Standardized tests should be administered to measure her
academic performance.
3. Progress should be measured against her individualized goals
and objectives.

Services
1. Provide Joy with additional instruction in reading and writing
2. Provide Joy with additional support in the form of social and
emotional counseling to help her cope with her learning
disability.
