Audition Oct. 29, 2023 Scan to learn about Navy Fleet
Bands audition opportunities.
Applications due Oct. 25, 2023
United States Navy Fleet Bands
Trumpet Audition:
All applicants must register with the Auditions Supervisor by e-mailing the applicant fact sheet and one page
resume prior to auditioning. Audition spots are limited! Please bring to the audition your
own copies of music and backing tracks. Navy Music needs musicians that are exceptional
classical instrumentalists and also those that are exceptional commercial instrumentalists, but you
don’t need to excel at both! Our auditions are designed to represent a variety of musical styles
that you could potentially perform in a Fleet Band.

The audition will consist of the following:

TRUMPET SOLO:

Charlier #2, Du Style. (applicant must provide their own copy)

TRUMPET EXCERPTS:
1. Seitz, March "Grandioso"

2. Sousa, Easter Monday on the White House Lawn. Measures 7-32

3. Williams, Olympic Fanfare. Measures 5-18

4. Shostakovich (Trans. Hunsberger), Festive Overture, Op. 96

5. Santelmann, Flag Officers March

6. Giacchino, Incredibles. Measures 180-207

7. Lettuce, Bowler. Measures 15-32 (no repeats).

8. Strayhorn, Take the "A" Train. Head once and one chorus of improvisation. Contact the auditions
supervisor for a copy of the backing track to be used.

9. Simon, Late in the Evening. Bar before C to letter D.

10. Basie, I just Found Out About Love. Bar 65 to the end.
