The study of marine animals, their behaviour, and interactions with the environment is known as

marine biology. To comprehend marine species, marine biologists study biological

oceanography as well as the related sciences of chemical, physical, and geological
oceanography.
Because marine biology is such a large field, most researchers specialize in a specific area of
interest. A species, group, habit, technique, or ecology can all be the basis for a specialization.
A related area of study in marine biology is molecular biology. Researchers utilize molecular
tools to study species such as viruses, plants, and fish in a variety of settings ranging from
coastal marshes to the deep sea.

As our society's ability to create food, water, and shelter is put under strain, we will continue to
rely to the oceans to help us meet our basic requirements.
Technological advancements, paired with increased demand, will improve our ability to obtain
food, drinking water, energy sources, waste disposal, and transportation from the ocean.
It will be up to this and future generations to expand on our current understanding of the ocean
and its ability to help meet the world's and its inhabitants' needs.
