Open up for the ‘Digital Era’
The way learning is delivered to the educational universe has been redefined with the advent of the
digital era. Content once delivered through the print medium is now reaching audiences through electronic
gadgets -computers, tablets, smart phones, and eReaders. As an early mover, Fabcer has developed a deep
understanding of the medium and tailored its world-class services to match every requirement.
Our ‘Advent’
Our chambers of content development services are distinctively designed to support the end-to-end
content cycle requirements of K-12 and the Higher Education Publisher. Our subject matter experts, (former
teachers and academic heads), along with technology specialists engage in evolving content strategies and
deliver content both on print and digital media.
Editorial Services
The fabcer editorial team consists of a core group of experienced editorial management staff based in
our North American and Indian offices. They are supported by a team of 26 onshore and 6 offshore copy
editors who have extensive experience in the publishing industry. Our editors are adept at using many different
style guides for style, grammar, and punctuation. These style guides include CMoS (Chicago Manual of Style),
APA (American Psychological Association), and AMA (American Medical Association), among others.
Client style and author preferences are also incorporated into styling the documents as required. When
a project is assigned to an editor, the editor checks the manuscript line by line to ensure correct sentence
structure, syntax, style, word choice, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The editor may also make structural
changes as indicated by the service-level requirements. Prior to submission, all manuscripts are examined by a
reviewing editor for conformity to client style, adherence to the service-level requirements, and author
preferences.
After the copyediting and proofreading processes are complete, the production team in Trichy, India
provides composition services via a XML workflow and ensures that the content is accurately structured and
ready in different formats and for multiple platforms. The production team has vast experience working with
industry standard software and templates; however, if required, it can provide layout and design template
creation services as specified by our clients.

updated files. The proposed revisions stage typically involves two passes, with additional passes performed as
required. During each stage, a set of the updated files is stored in-house for backup purposes.
Note: Revisions are typically marked directly on the page proofs by the client or author, and the marked-up
page proofs are scanned and sent as PDFs.
Indexing
When the revisions are complete and approved by the client, the indexing process is initiated. The index
manuscript is typeset and checked for accuracy before it is sent to the client for review and confirmation.
XML Conversion
The XML conversion process is performed, as per the Docbook DTD specification, by using the exported XML file
from InDesign. After checking the encoded structure, the compiler is run. If any errors are detected, the files are
corrected and the XML file is validated, until all of the errors are resolved.
