STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

(RE REQUEST FOR STUDENT VISA APPLICATION)

The Case Officer

Student Visa Section,

Canadian High Commission,

New Delhi.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I Manraj Singh Khokhar, a permanent resident of Patiala, Punjab, India once again
writing this statement of purpose (SOP) and submitting my application for study
permit but this time to study Bachelor of Arts - Sociology Program at Thompson
River University, BC, Canada.

After completing my Senior Secondary education in Humanities stream in the year

2022 from Budha Dal Public School, Patiala, affiliated by the Central Board of
Secondary Education and got 78.8% marks. During school education sociology
becomes my favorite subject and I scored 87% marks in sociology. I have decided
to pursue my further education in Sociology only and started looking for best
opportunities.

As explained in my previous SOP, Canada is considered a peaceful, safe and

orderly country. International students are welcomed to institutions with warm
hospitality. Tuition fees and living expenses are also favorable in Canada. So, I am
convinced that Canada is a better option and it will help me positively develop my
personality and mindset.
With the guidance of my teachers and the friends who are studying in Canada and
after lots of research, I decided to choose the course in Arts. This is an ever-
growing and It also aligns well with my subjects in 12th standard.

Previously I have chosen the course of Associate of Arts at OKANAGAN College.

The course includes subjects which deal with analytical, interpersonal and
communication skills, it also includes various subjects like Sociology, Political
science, Psychology, Economics, Criminology and many more. But from the core
of my heart I always wants to study Sociology and moreover in a university only
because the growth and the knowledge I can gain in university is not possible in
college. Even the diploma obtained from college is not so useful as compared to
the degree from a university here in India. By the luck or chance, I got refused the
study permit of Canada. I have immediately decided to re-apply but with a degree
course in some reputed university only.

Thompson River University (TRU) caught my attention being located in same

British Columbia, the most beautiful provinces in Canada. It is Canada's only
double platinum-rated sustainable university. I have decided to choose the
Sociology as my specialization.

Preparing to achieve my goal of overseas education in Canada, I wrote the IELTS

test on 10-09-2022 and got an overall 6.5 bands (Listening -7.5, Reading -6.0,
Writing -6.0, Speaking -6.5).

My family fully supports me in this endeavor. Annual fee of CAD18,420 for the
first year of my college has already been paid, along with the payment of the
Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC).

My father and mother both being sportsperson always encouraged me to

participate in sports. Even I have special liking for sports since childhood. With
the help of coaching at Punjab Cricket Association for the last 8 years, in the year
2021, I represented my district, Patiala in Cricket. My hard work helped me to be
a part of the sixteen-man squad. My century in an important match resulted in
our team qualifying for the finals. Appreciating my consistency, a news was
published in our state newspaper with the Headline, ’CENTURION MANRAJ
PROPELS PATIALA COLTS’.

My father Late Mr Savdeep Singh Khokhar was head of department (HOD) in the
Management department at Bhai Gurdas Group of Colleges at Sangrur and a
national level basketball player and My mother Mrs Kuljit Kaur Khokhar is working
as teacher with the Government of Punjab, India and a national level Hockey
player.

As my mother works in the government education sector and has an annual

income of INR 10 lakhs. My grandparents own land and have annual income of 8
Lakhs. In case of need, my family do have some liquid amount with them which
could help with future expenses if required.

After completing my studies, I would like to return to my home county, India as I

have my family here. Having lost my father, I feel responsible for my mother and
younger brother. After completing the program and gaining relevant skills, I will
further peruse my career in India. Both parents being educationists I have decided
to be good teacher and this international degree in sociology will help me a lot in
fulfilling my dream here in India.

I request you to kindly consider my application for a student visa and help me in
accomplishing my goals.

Regards

Manraj Singh Khokhar
