Lesson planning in ELT


Engagement
• Second phase of your lesson.
• When you choose not to do a warmer, the second portion of your
lesson may instead serve as the first phase.
• One or two interactive activities might be a part of engagement.
• During the class, the engagement phase's objective is to introduce
the session's subject to the pupils.
• Introduce the key phrases or the topic.
• Make them think about the subject by engaging them.
Engagement : Examples
➢Students are asked to answer thought-provoking questions
about the topic.
➢Drawing activities: students are asked to draw what they
think are missing in a picture.
➢Teacher modelling & context setting while student takes notes
➢Vocabulary Expansion
➢Video watching and discussing the video
