FIRST FRIDAY MASS

October 7, 2022

INTRODUCTION

Reader: Let us be aware that we are in the Holy presence of God.

(pause)

Good morning Corpus Christians!

Our common love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus today

gathers us not only to off er him our praise and love in the
Eucharistic celebration, but also to reflect on the duty we
all have to be rightly enterprising in all aspects of our life.
Since the time of Jesus – and long before! – believers had
a poor reputation in this respect.
Numerous saints of active life took seriously the Lord’s
invitation to learn from the non-believers to be
enterprising in doing good, and even outdid them. Today
we are challenged, both as individuals and as a
community, to show in practice the genuineness of our
faith and of our devotion to the Sacred Heart through a
life characterized by a generous commitment to work for a
more just and humane world. This is how God’s Kingdom
is built n the hearts of people and the structures of our
society. Let this be one of the intentions for which we offer
this Eucharist.

Our Mass presider is Rev. Fr. _____________________.

Let us all stand for the processional entrance.

2
GREETINGS

Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen.

Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

People: And with your spirit.

PENITENTIAL ACT

Priest: Brethren, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves

to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

People: I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in
what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my
fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and
Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the
Lord our God.

Priest: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and
bring us to everlasting life.

People: Amen.

COLLECT

Priest: Let us pray.

Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts,
that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ your Son was made
known by the message of an Angel, may, through the
intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, by his Passion and Cross
be brought to the glory of his Resurrection. Who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

People: Amen.

Commentator: Please be seated for the liturgy of the word.

FIRST READING

Reader: A proclamation from the Letter of Paul to the Philippians

Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers, and observe

those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you
have in us. For many, as I have often told you and now tell you
even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of
Christ. Their end is destruction. Their God is their stomach; their
glory is in their “shame.” Their minds are occupied with earthly
things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await
a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to
conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him
also to bring all things into subjection to himself. Therefore, my
brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and
crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, beloved.

The word of the Lord.

People: Thanks be to God.

4
RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Reader: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

People: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

Reader: I rejoiced because they said to me, “We will go up to the house
of the Lord.” And now we have set foot within your gates, O
Jerusalem. R.

People: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

Reader: Jerusalem, built as a city with compact unity. To it the tribes go

up, the tribes of the Lord. R.

People: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

Reader: According to the decree for Israel, to give thanks to the name of
the Lord. In it are set up judgment seats, seats for the house of
David. R.

People: Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

Commentator: Please stand to acclaim the gospel.

ALLELUIA

Priest: The Lord be with you.

People: And with your spirit.

Priest: A proclamation from the holy Gospel according to Luke

People: Glory to you, O Lord.

Priest: Jesus said to his disciples: “A rich man had a steward who was
reported to him for squandering his property. He summoned
5
him and said, ‘What is this I hear about you? Prepare a full
account of your stewardship, because you can no longer be my
steward.’ The steward said to himself, ‘What shall I do now that
my master is taking the position of steward away from me? I am
not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg. I know what
I shall do so that, when I am removed from the stewardship, they
may welcome me into their homes.’ He called in his master’s
debtors one by one. To the first he said, ‘How much do you owe
my master?’ He replied. ‘One hundred measures of olive oil.’ He
said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note. Sit down and quickly
write one for fifty.’ Then to another the steward said, ‘And you,
how much do you owe?’ He replied, ‘One hundred measures of
wheat.’ The steward said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note;
write one for eighty.’ The master commended that dishonest
steward for acting prudently. For the children of this world are
more prudent in dealing with their own generation than are the
children of light.”

Priest: The gospel of the Lord.

People: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated and listen to the homily.

HOMILY

Commentator: Please all stand.

God’s Kingdom on earth, we pray!

Reader: Today we pray for our Beloved Dead, including Dr. Alfonso,
Ma’am Corazon, Sir Eric and Tacher Ching. We remember those
7
who have died with faith in the resurrection, and for those who

Pray!

People: “Lord, graciously hear us!”.

Reader: Let us pray in silence for our personal intentions. (Pause) Let us
pray!

Priest: Lord God, may our determination to be agents of renewal and

improvement in our society be our reparation for the many
inadequacies of the past and a clear sign of the pro-active
stance of our Christian faith. We ask this through the Sacred
Heart of Jesus, our model and inspiration who lives and loves
forever and ever.

People: Amen.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

Commentator: Please be seated for the offertory.

PROCESSION OF GIFTS:

Priest: Blessed are you Lord, God of all creation, for through your
goodness we have the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and
work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.

People: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in
the divinity of Christ, who humbled Himself to share in our
humanity.
8
Blessed are you Lord God of all creation, for through your
goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the
vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

People: Blessed be God forever.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

Priest: Pray brethren that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to

God the almighty Father.

People: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise
and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His holy
Church.

Commentator: Please all stand.

Priest: Sanctify, we pray, O Lord, the offerings made here, and cleanse
our hearts by the light of the Holy Spirit.

Through Christ our Lord.

People: Amen.

PREFACE

Priest: The Lord be with you.

People: And with your spirit.

Priest: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right and just.

9

Priest: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and
everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and
eternal God, through Christ our Lord.

Ascending above all the heavens and sitting at your right hand,
he poured out the promised Holy Spirit on your adopted
children.

Therefore, now and for ages unending, with all the host of
Angels, we sing to you with all our hearts, crying out as we
acclaim:

SANCTUS

Priest: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make
holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit
upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the
Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his

Passion, he took bread and, giving you thanks, broke it, and
gave it to his disciples, saying: “Take this, all of you, and eat it,
for this is my body, which will be given up for you.”

In similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and,
once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:
“Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of
my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will
be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this in memory of me.

The mystery of faith.

10

ACCLAMATION

Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and

Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice
of salvation, giving thanks that you have held worthy to be in
your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,

we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and

bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Benedict XVI,
our Pope and Antonio, our Bishop, and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep
in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your
mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on
us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased
you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal
life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus
Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for
ever and ever.
Comment: Amen

People: For the kingdom, the power and glory are yours, now and
forever. Amen.

SIGN OF PEACE

Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: Peace I leave you,
