2 Use of Pause Tag and Noise Tags

The following diagrams show the correct usage of <pause> and other noise event tags. In the diagrams,
<stationary_noise> is the same as <long_noise>

Pause is tag used for a period of 1 second or more of no speech (main speaker). Use the <pause> tag along with the
appropriate tag when it occurs with one or more of the following noises:
laugh, cough, short noise, dtmf, click, ring, breath, lipsmack, cry

Example
YOU HEAR
<pause> <breath> yes I know .
YOU TRANSCRIBE
<pause> <breath> yes I know .

When pause occurs with long noise, please consider the following examples to guide you in using these tags
correctly:

Transcribe: speech <pause> <long_noise> speech

Explanation: you will hear the long_noise in the 2nd period of speech, so it needs to be tagged before the 2nd
period of speech starts because it affects the speech.

Transcribe: speech <pause> <long_noise> speech

Explanation: you will hear the long_noise in the 2nd period of speech, and affects the speech itself, so it
needs to be tagged before the 2nd period of speech starts. <pause> is used to acknowledge the pause in
between the two periods of speech.

Transcribe: <long_noise> speech <pause> speech

Explanation: you will hear the long_noise at the very start of speech, so it needs to be tagged at the very
start of the utterance because it affects the speech

Transcribe: speech <pause> <long_noise>

Explanation: the long_noise occurs after speech and overlaps approximately with the pause, just tag the
pause. Long noise does not affect the speech.
