Activity 1: Reflections 09-16-2023

Make reflections of the following:

1) Graduate School VMG

Every Institution has their own Mission and Vision statements and also Core Values. It
defines the objectives and desired future of an Institution, just like Ramon Magsaysay Memorial
Colleges Inc. – Graduate School they have their own mission and vision statements and Core
Values.
VISION:
RMMC is an institution of innovative development and excellence.
MISSION:
RMMC is committed to realize human potentials through holistic education.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
1. Provide holistic academic programs aligned with industry needs and standards.
2. Create, disseminate, and utilize researches for the benefit of the community.
3. Establish a highly visible community outreach program.
4. Collaborate with working networks, linkages and consortia.
CORE VALUES:

 Love of God
 Integrity
 Patriotism
 Service
 Excellence
My interpretation about the VMG or the Vision, Mission and Goal of Ramon Magsaysay
Memorial Colleges- Grad School is that for the Vision this aims to developed for high excellency
of the institution and for the Mission this is for the curriculum that addresses to the needs of
the community and society and also focuses on the needs of the students and stakeholders in
the learning content to be learn and taught. To provide quality education among its learner.
Furthermore, Its Goals and Objectives really focuses on the students’ needs on how to help
students be productive and holistic as they perform outside school and in workplace. The
institution also aims for more researches that made the students love the culture of research.
By the means of research this really help a lot to individuals, students, teachers in knowing
problems and on how to deal with it by interpreting and gathering data. This also helped Grad-
school students to be a research enthusiast, develop their writing, speaking, critical and
reasoning skills. To think of problems and situations in the workplace that needs to be address
or needs further innovations.
The institution also provides outreach programs to express gratitude and help to the less
fortunate individuals which really promotes love and care to other people even help the
community and society status. RMMC also collaborates and connects with the establishments
and fields were their students practice their chosen career and profession. To be more efficient
and effective product and graduate of the institution. The experiences and learnings inculcate
from the professors to their students play a vital role as the students apply his/her learnings in
his/her own career or profession.

2) Introduction to Statistics
Statistics simply means numerical data, and is field of math that generally deals with
collection of data, tabulation, and interpretation of numerical data. It is actually a form of
mathematical analysis that uses different quantitative models to produce a set of experimental
data or studies of real life.
I believe that in the verge of realization, in everyday life’s undertaking we are facing and
practicing statistics. I was been into a typical student thinking that statistics was a basic
foundation of computation and interpretation. But my instinct was right. I was able to compute
manually (using basic formulas), and interpret data with the aid of our good professor.
Statistics is a tricky business. The casual reader doesn't understand statistics in any great
depth, while the experienced reader often knows a lot about the subject. Balancing between
these two extremes is often difficult, and far from natural. After the discussions on the
definition, function, uses, and importance of statistics, I realized that in everything we are
doing, wherever we are, and whatever is happening, statistics is always present.
Overall the course was very well taught and set up. The power points helped very much
along with the recordings explaining each slide. Some of the content was difficult to learn but
the connect homework had hints to help out. Having unlimited attempts to get the homework
right helped a lot. As an educator who has mastery in Mathematics, I could easily understand
the lesson well.
3) Measures of Central Tendency
Central tendency is defined as “the statistical measure that identifies a single value as
representative of an entire distribution.” It aims to provide an accurate description of the entire
data. It is the single value that is most typical/representative of the collected data. The term
“number crunching” is used to illustrate this aspect of data description. The mean, median and
mode are the three commonly used measures of central tendency.
Mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. The mean uses every value
in the data and hence is a good representative of the data. The irony in this is that most of the
times this value never appears in the raw data. Repeated samples drawn from the same
population tend to have similar means. The mean is therefore the measure of central tendency
that best resists the fluctuation between different samples.
So, central tendency provides one important piece of information - where the center score
falls for students in a group. If we have some confidence that measures of distribution are very,
very similar across different groups, we can use these measures of central tendency to compare
and contrast those groups; for instance, if distributions are similar, we could rank-order groups
based on just central tendency.
