Job description

"Powerpoint Presentations for lectures about travel destinations"

Version 4 June 2023

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BIDDING:

Total job volume is up to 1200 slides (estimated), completion deadlines
rolling. Fee max. $0.30 per slide - with bonus possibility, which I will be
happy to pay for good work.

BRIEFING
I deliver regularly non-commercial lectures about travel destinations to small audiences.
Currently I am preparing the text for some 60 lectures in the Mediterranean (mostly Greece
and Turkey), later Arabic Peninsula and Asia. For each lecture I need a Powerpoint slideshow
containing 10-30 slides. As I complete the text for each lecture I will need the related Ppoint
file. About half of the work must be completed between now and mid August. The rest
until November. More lectures after that in a rolling manner.

General information about the lectures:

Language of lectures: English
Audience: Amateurs, but generally well educated, aged mostly 45-75. About 40% will not
have english as mother tongue. About 60% from North America, 40% other nationalities.

JOB DESCRIPTION * Please follow exactly *

- BEFORE AWARDING THE JOB

I will provide the text for each lecture and the description of what each slide should show. The
job is for you to find a selection of suitable images and then create a Powerpoint-style
presentation for each lecture. Specifications as follows:

Software: Powerpoint (pptx). I use a MacBook Air. I must be able to edit the file afterwards.

IMPORTANT: Format of slides: In Powerpoint Menu: File - Page Setup - select "On screen
show 16:9"

Projection: The venue will provide a professional projector (specifications unknown) and a
large screen (some 2.5m x 2.5m). There will not be wifi or internet connection at the location.

Images: You must find suitable images, which must be royalties-free (the lectures will not
be commercial, but free of charge). You must verify that all images will look sharp when
projected.
THIS IS CRITICAL: Size of images: Minimum 1200x1100, but preferably higher.
Resolution minimum 75x75 pixels per inch. Even if some images are already provided
as samples, you must ensure that both size and resolution is sufficient for projection
on a large screen, otherwise find alternative images. Recommendation: Search directly
for "large images" or "larger than..." in the search engine. Importantly, do not manipulate
images of lesser resolution to reach the desired resolution, those images will still not
be sufficiently sharp on the large screen.

Total size of each .ppt file: 50-100MB

For the shortlisted candidates, a sample the lecture text (and a sample of another visual
presentation) will be made available. This will allow you to follow a similar style.

References: Recommendations for having successfully completed similar jobs, or relevant

samples will be appreciated.

Familiarity with area: If you happen to know the Mediterranean and in particular Greece
and/or Turkish coast, it will be an advantage.

AFTER AWARDING THE JOB

-Each slide must contain an image (sometimes two), covering as much surface of the slide as
possible. However the top 10% and the bottom 10% of the slide should not contain letters, if
possible. Because the viewers may not be able to see those part because of the head of the
viewer in front of them limits their view, or because some screens are slightly too small for the
projected image.

-Landscape format much preferred. In sufficient resolution for large projection, as

detailed above.

- Very little text per slide (if at all), well legible font size & colour for good contrast with the
background. Fonts to be used: Preferably Arial, but in any case not the Serif version of any
font. The same font and colour should be used throughout the presentation, but always with
an eye to the colour combinations of each particular slide.

-The background should be something suitable for each presentation (for example
reminiscent of something “Greek” for destinations in Greece etc.). Yet it should be simple, not
to distract from the main image of the slide. I prefer a unified background for all lectures of a
particular country.

-In addition: There must be no slide with large portion of white or very bright colour, whether in
the main slide or in the background. Because it does not work well with the LED projector of
the venue.

- Where art is used (painting or similar), the slide must contain as subtitle: Title, Artist, Year,
Museum. Classical art should be the rule, a couple of modern works could be included as
well, where fitting.
IMPORTANT, PLEASE STICK EXACTLY TO THIS SEQUENCE for each individual lecture:

Phase 1: You create or collect the images for each slide (and perhaps variations, if available).
You number them according to the order you intend to use them in the PPT, so that I can reply
which ones to use and which not to use, by referring to your numbering. You submit them to
me for approval by dropbox link or as .rar file (do not send individual files). You also submit
your suggestions for background. NO Powerpoint during this phase. This will be the first
milestone.

Phase 2: You use the approved images to create 10 sample slides in Powerpoint. They must
include any maps or graphs required for the particular lecture, if any. This will be the
second milestone. After successful completion of the first few Ppoints, we can reduce it to 5
sample slides.

Phase 3: After my approval of the sample slides, you proceed to complete the presentation.
This will be the third and final milestone.

The payment will be calculated at the agreed rate for each actually used slide in the final
version of each Powerpoint file. As a matter of principle I contract at competitive fees, but In
case of excellent cooperation I will be happy to provide additional bonus to reward above-
average results. For simplicity, I believe I could group a number of destinations into one job
(for example 3 Powerpoints could be collectively 1 job with the 3 milestones mentioned
above, but I am open to better ideas).

Copyright: Your fee includes the transfer of the copyright for your work to the buyer (me). The
copyright of the work will belong to the buyer and may not be used by others. You confirm that
no copyright of third parties has been infringed. With your acceptance of the job you accept
these points as well.

Clear communication is critical to avoid misunderstandings and waste of time for both parties.

Additional similar jobs are expected to follow throughout the next 2 years.
