After video learners will be asked look around and find out the same part of the computer.
Learners will be asked that what we are going to learn today?

Demonstration: 10mins
 The teacher will introduce the computer desktop to the learners using a projector/EyeRIS;
 Let the children look at the Desktop and ask them to describe what they see.
 Tell them about the icons and the functions of the icons that they see.

 The Desktop is the background for all activities performed by a computer.


 It contains the commands needed for accessing those activities.
 The background picture on the Desktop is called Wallpaper. This can be changed to show any picture.
 The small pictures you see on the Desktop is called an icon. Icons are linked to activities that we want to perform
using the computer. For example, Paint.
 Use the mouse and keyboard to work with programs/icons.
 Tell them about the Window that opens up. Click on another icon to open another Window, MS Paint.
 Introduce Minimize, maximize and close options, clutter up the desktop with a bunch of open Windows. Hide the
Window that they seem to find most attractive.

Practice Task: (Pair work) 20mins

 Learners will be asked to open a window by using moue left click (Double Click)
 Minimize the window
 Maximize the window
 Open more than one window and minimize all
 Draw something you like in paint and close it.
Production Task: (Individual Work) 20mins
 Ask the learners that they have to click on the desired icon (Teacher will create shortcut of paint, Tizzy Toy Box on
the desktop)
 Open the window and minimize
 Maximize the window
 Close the window
Extension Task:
 Open 2 windows, 1 window will be minimized and other one will be used to write/draw anything you like.

 Open the window by using click+ Enter key
 Minimize the window
 Click on maximize option
 Close all

 What is the desktop? (The first screen you see after the computer starts is the desktop. It includes, Shortcuts – icons,
Taskbar, Buttons, System tray, Background – wallpaper)
