OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

1. describe the process of human reproduction;
2. d i s c o v e r the different parts of male and female reproductive system; and
3. evaluate the different functions of each part of the male and female reproductive
system.

B. Lesson Proper

ACTIVITY

Find Me!

The teacher brought cut out pictures and labels with scrambled letters of different
parts of male and female reproductive system. Pictures are posted on the board. All
students will pick one label, paste it beside the picture and construct the scrambled letters
into the proper name of selected male and female reproductive parts. The students shall
complete the task within 10 minutes.
ANALYSIS

While the student’s answers are posted on the board, the teacher will check the
students output if they have labeled all the names beside the pictures properly and
completely constructed the scrambled letters of each male and female reproductive parts.
Then the teacher will ask the students of the following questions:

1. Did everyone’s answers correct?

2. What are the parts of male reproductive system?

3. What are the parts of female reproductive system?

4. What are the differences between male and female reproductive system?

ABSTRACTION

The teacher started the discussion about the lesson on Male and Female
Reproductive System. As the teacher discuss the lesson, the charts of Male and Female
reproductive systems are posted on the board.

MALE AND FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS

If all plants and animals reproduce their own kind to grow their populations. How is it possible for
humans? The human organ system which is responsible for producing children or babies is the human
reproductive system. Humans can reproduce new offspring of young children or babies through the
process of reproduction. All human beings undergo a sexual mode of reproduction. In this process,
two parents are involved in producing new individual. The male and female reproductive organ must
work together in producing new offspring.

Male Parts Descriptions

Testis The main organ of the male reproductive system is the testis. Testosterone is
(testicles) responsible for the development of the male secondary sex characteristics such as
body hair, muscle development, and deep voice.
Scrotum It is a muscular sac which is shorter when cold, and longer when warm. It holds the
testes and protect the testicles as it keeps the temperature of the testes slightly
lower than that of the rest of the body.
Cowper’s Gland It is a pair of glands also known as bulbourethral gland that produces pre-
ejaculatory fluid that cleans the urethra to protect the sperm.
Seminal It is a pair of simple tubular glands located within the pelvis that secrete fluid
Vesicles which partly composes the semen.
Prostate It is muscular gland that is found just in front of the rectum and bellow the bladder
Glands which produces most of the fluid that makes up the semen.
Semen Fluids secreted by Cowper's glands, prostate glands and seminal vesicles and the
sperm
Epididymis Coiled tube where sperms undergo maturation and provide storage of the sperm

Vas Deferens The tube that leads upward from each of the testis into the lower part of the
abdomen. The two-vas deferens join at the urethra, which is
the passageway for the elimination of urine and sperm that leave the male's body.
Sperm Sperm is a male reproductive cell. It fertilizes an egg cell from the female.

Female Parts Descriptions
Ovaries Ovaries are the main organs of the female reproductive system. The ovaries
are oval and are in the lower part of the abdomen. They produce, allow for the
maturation and provide storage for egg cells. Ovaries also produce female sex
hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and androgens). Estrogens are
responsible for the development of female sex characteristics, such as
development of breasts, broadened pelvis, and play a large role in the
menstrual cycle.
Egg Cell (ovum) An egg cell is fertilized by a sperm to produce fertilized egg called zygote. An
egg cell dissolves in the Fallopian tube after about 24 hours if not fertilized
Vagina (Birth canal) It is 3-to-4-inch passageway or canal inside the female. This is a place where a
sperm may be deposited by the male. It also allows passage of shed
endometrium during menstrual period and the baby during birth. It produces
fluid to cleanse and lubricate itself and help sperm travel. The vagina opens
between the legs where it is protected by folds of skin known as vulva.
Cervix Cervix is a short canal that leads to the uterus. It is the bottom section of the
uterus. It produces fluids to help sperm cell travel. It also produces mucus plug
to keep out germs during pregnancy.
Uterus (womb) The uterus is made up of muscular walls, a lining called endometrium, and a
cervix. It houses and protects embryo/fetus/baby and allows nutrients and
wastes exchange with placenta during pregnancy. It also nourishes the embryo
before a placenta grows.
Fallopian Tubes A Fallopian tube is a passageway that conveys the ovum to the uterus. As the
ovum moves along the Fallopian tube, the union of egg cell and sperm cell can
happen.

FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

APPLICATION

Word Search of Male and Female

Reproductive Parts

The teacher prepared test paper of wordsearch for the students. The class is divided into
small groups of 6 members. The students are given 10 minutes brainstorm and search for the
words of male and female reproductive parts. In the test paper provided, the students will
search and encircle the words that they can found. The game starts as the students are
ready with their group. The teacher will begin to record the timer. While the students are
answering together with the group. The teacher will check the collaboration of each group to
ensure that no one is cheating, and everyone is participating on the group quiz activity.
After 10 minutes the teacher will gather the output of each group and provide
scores with criteria as follows:

Criteria:

Each correct answer of the group corresponds 3 points x 15 items 45 points

Teamwork 5 points
Total: 50 points
IV. EVALUATION

Part I.
Matching type: The students will choose the correct answer from the column A and match
it to the corresponding item in column B. They will use the test paper provided. The
students shall complete this activity in 5 minutes.

Instructions: Write the letter of correct answer on the space provided before the number.
V. ASSIGNMENT

The teacher instructed the students to bring a picture of the life cycle of a
Butterfly. Students will paste the picture on their notebook for this assignment.

VI. CLOSURE
The class reviewed the lesson about male and female reproductive systems, its
different parts, and functions.

• Short review about the topic.

• Ask the students for any questions or clarifications regarding the lesson.
• Classroom management.
• Closing prayer.
• Bid goodbye.
