Course Description:

English IV is a language course aimed at facilitating the achievement of the general

competences for level B1 of the Common European Framework, described as follows:

The learner will be able to partially:

 Understand the main points of clear texts in standard language if they are
about topics with which they are familiar, whether in work, study or leisure
contexts.
 Cope with most of the situations that might arise on a trip to areas where the
language is used.
 Produce simple, coherent texts about topics with which they are familiar or
in which they have a personal interest.
 Describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations, as well as briefly
justifying opinions or explaining plans.

Approach and Methodology:

Our approach is based on the concept of Communicative Competence defined as the ability
to use language correctly and appropriately in order to achieve communication goals in
specific contexts.

The goal of our language courses is to enable learners to express themselves confidently,
accurately and fluently in speaking and writing and to understand spoken and written
language as used in the world today in a variety of settings. Our methodology will,
therefore, facilitate such goals by creating communicative opportunities in each lesson
through a variety of techniques (integrated-skills tasks, etc.).

These activities will be based on communicative functions needed for everyday life.
Successful language learning also requires learner autonomy. Through Pearson
Education’s online platform MyEnglishLab, our learners will engage in multiple
learning activities based on the communicative functions explored in class.
