A Sunny Day by the Canal

Last Sunday the weather was lovely. I went to the canal and I sat on the bank,
reading my book. It was busy! There were
two longboats on the canal. There were
swans and ducks. A man was fishing. In
the field behind me, some kids were
playing softball. To my left, there was a
pub and many people were sitting in the
pub garden. In front of me, there was a
large family having a picnic. They were
laughing and chatting. It was a perfect
scene. Suddenly, a big dog ran along the towpath. It ran over the happy family’s
picnic and spilled some drinks. Then it ran up to the kids and stole their ball. A
few minutes later, a man ran up. He was holding a dog leash. He explained that
his dog had slipped its lead. He was very apologetic. He gave the kids their ball
back and apologized to the family who were having a picnic. Everybody just
laughed. I watched the scene and then returned to reading my book. By Lianne
