Topic: The superior FUSION™ integrated-plate PTFE bonded diaphragms have replaced the Versa-Tuff™
PTFE bonded diaphragms in the sizes listed in the chart below.

Change Made: The high performance FUSION integrated-plate PTFE bonded diaphragms have replaced the
Versa-Tuff bonded PTFE diaphragms in select sizes. This product enhancement provided by the FUSION
delivers an upgraded level of performance to the field, increasing Versa-Mastic’s competitive position in the
marketplace. The 2” and 3” Versa-Tuff diaphragms are still available.

Benefits of Change: Superior Diaphragm Performance

The FUSION provides a smooth sanitary design (no plates to trap particulate), simple installation (just
spin on hand tight, no plates to loosen), reduced parts cost (no plates to buy or stock), leak path
eliminated (no center diaphragm hole), and excellent service life.

Pump Models Affected: All E5 1/2”, E7 3/4”, E1 1” and E4 1 1/2” Versa-Tuff fitted units.

Interchangeability: Interchangeable with Versa-Tuff diaphragms. See FUSION installation instructions and
cross over guide for details.

 Installation Instructions

FUSION DIAPHRAGM (BONDED PTFE WITH INTEGRAL PLATE) SERVICING

1. Thread the first diaphragm onto the main shaft. (Do not tighten)
2. Inside the first air chamber, push the pilot shaft all the way in.
3. Insert the first diaphragm/main shaft assembly into the pump and install
the first water chamber.
(Refer to torque and pattern specifications in your service manual)
4. Turn the pump over and thread the second diaphragm onto the
main shaft.
5. Turn the diaphragm until it makes contact with the main shaft and hand
tighten the assembly.
6. Continue tightening until the bolt holes align with the air chamber holes
(On the clamped models, no alignment is needed.)
DO NOT LEAVE THE ASSEMBLY LOOSE!
7. Attach a regulated air line to the air inlet of the pump with the air
pressure turned down to zero.
8. Slowly begin turning up the air pressure until the diaphragm assembly
completes one shift, enabling the second water chamber to be installed.
9. Install the second water chamber.
