Bob Dylan A. Bob Dylan is an American songwriter, singer, artist and writer, who has been influential in popular music and culture for more than fifty years. Bob Dylan, whose birth name was Robert Zimmerman, was bom in 1941 in Minnesota, where his grandparents immi from Odessa in 1905. In his early years Dylan listened to music a lot - first to blues and country and later, to rock and roll. He was a big fan of rock and roll and formed several bands in high school and even performed covers of songs by Elvis Presley. However, Dylan first ‘became famous as a folk musician. B. Much of Dylan’s most celebrated work dates back to the 1960s, when he started writing songs about social protests.
