In one part, the former German
national team captain advises homosexual footballers not to come out in
public nor to their own teammates due to the backlash they would face.

"There is still a lack of acceptance in the world of football and in society

in general," Lahm writes.

"You will not be able to depend on that same maturity from all your
opponents or stadiums where you are going to compete," excerpts
released by Bild reveal Lahm as writing.

"They would have to endure insults and defamatory comments. Who

would accept it?"

Lahm also touched on the case of former Germany teammate Thomas

Hitzlsperger, who announced that he was homosexual after his
retirement from the sport.
