    Treasures of Our Motherland


    A. Mention three handicraft items in your house and describe
    how they add value to your life.

    B. Don't you think that crafts such as doll-making or basket-


    weaving bring us closer to Nature? How?

    C. If you had an opportunity to learn one craft, which would you


    choose? Why?

    D. Find out the names of three Indian painters who lived and
    worked during the twentieth century. Try to find out as much
    as you can about their lives and their art.

    E. With more and more things being made by machines, it is


    feared that many of our traditional handicrafts may be lost.
    Give your ideas for saving these crafts.

    F. Pick one handicraft each that uses the following materials:


    1. Marble
    2. Brass
    3. Vegetable dyes
    4. Wool
    5. Wood

    Write a few lines describing where they are produced in India


    and how these objects are made.

    G. Make any object by hand and bring it to class. It can be part of


    a class display.
