Key Techniques
6 1. When the SEMS is used to the TP or MTS9000A series power cabinets, the SMU02B inside the
cabinet is used directly to manage the power consumption sensor, and no additional power data
collection controller is required if the version of power controller SMU02B is SMU V500 and later
versions. When the SUM02B inside the cabinet manages the Wire e-Meter, the SUM02B needs an
9 IBOX. If there is no IBOX, configure one. If the version of power controller SMU02B is earlier than
SUM V500, add an independent SMU box (SCC800) as a power data collection controller.
2. Figure 1 shows the space requirements of the SCC800 on a wall.

Installing a three-phase AC
1.4-B Wire e-Meter in other ways
A 5 minutes
Procedure
1. Install the Wire e-Meter with a cable tie. The procedure is the same as that of Installation with a
Guide Rail in section 1.4-A, among which only the step 6 is replaced by the following step.
Find the proper cable ties from the installation accessory package. Bind the AC Wire e-Meter body to
the hole for the cable tie on the side of the ACDB, as shown in Figure 1.
2. Install the Wire e-Meter with adhesive tape. The procedure is the same as that of Installation with a
Guide Rail in section 1.4-A, among which only the step 6 is replaced by the following step.
Find the 3M glue from the installation accessory package and paste it on the side of the AC Wire e-
Meter where there is no silkscreen.
Clean the inner wall of the distribution box with a clean rag. Check with hands to ensure that no dust is
found.
Remove the protective film of the 3M glue from the AC Wire e-Meter. Stick the Wire e-Meter body
smoothly to the clean inner wall of the ACDB, as shown in Figure 2.
Key Techniques
1. Installation is secured with a cable tie if the ACDB has no free space to install the guide rails, the
side panel of the cabinet has holes for the cable ties, or the installation space meets the requirements
of the DC Wire e-Meters.
2. The AC Wire e-Meter body is installed at least 15 mm (0.59 in.) away from other electronic devices.
3. When there is no free space to install the guide rails in the ACDB and no holes for the cable ties on
the side of the ACDB, you can install with adhesive tape.
When the installation space in the side of the ACDB meets the installation requirements of the Wire e-
Meter, you can consider installation with adhesive tape.

Procedure
1. Install the current transformer of the Wire e-Meter.
Insert the current transformer to the current transformer port on the AC Wire e-Meter body, as shown in
Figure 1.
Open the bayonet AC transformer and secure it to the measured load cable according to the
sequence, as shown in Figure 2.
2. (Optional) Install the external antenna.
Fix the external antenna in a proper place outside the ACDB by a magnetic chassis to keep the
antenna vertical, as shown in Figure 3.
Connect the feeder terminal to the external antenna port on one of AC Wire e-Meters, as shown in
Figure 4.
Key Techniques
1. The current transformer must be paired with the Wire e-Meter body, and they cannot interchange. If
you need to replace the current transformer when it is faulty, replace it together with the Wire e-Meter
body.
2. The Wire e-Meter communicates with the power data collection controller by using an internal
antenna. When wireless signals are shielded, the Wire e-Meter communicates with the controller by
using an external antenna if it is installed inside the metal cabinet. The wireless sensor within the same
cabinet can perform relay communication. Only one wireless sensor communicates with a controller by
using an external antenna.

2. Attach L-shaped labels to transmission cables, signal cables, and power
cables as shown in Figure 2. Remove the labels from the printed base
page, attach them to the cable 20 mm (0.79 in.) from the connector, and
fold the long edge of the label around the cable, and turn over the labeling
area along the adhesive face. The labels must be attached on the cabinet
side and the peer side.
Key Techniques
1. When attaching the cable-tying labels, ensure that the label's direction is
consistent with others and the label corners are aligned. Cable ties are
bound at 20 mm (0.79 in.) from the connectors. Both ends of the power
2 cable must be attached with cable ties. The ID plate must be on top of the
cable in horizontal cabling, or on the right side of the cable in vertical
cabling.
2. When binding the sign plate labels, ensure that the cable ties are led
through the holes of the labels in the same direction. Ensure that the labels
face outwards in the same direction, and the labels are attached in an
orderly and neat manner. When you cut a cable tie, keep a surplus length
of 5 mm (0.20 in.) to 10 mm (0.40 in.).
3. The L-shaped label tie is attached to the cable 20 mm (0.79 in.) away
from the connector by default. Ensure that the edges of the turned-over
engineering label are in a line. The label locates on the right of the cable.

1. Figure 1 shows the components of a one-hole OT terminal and a
power cable.
2. Figure 2 shows the components of a two-hole OT terminal and a
power cable.
3. Based on the cross-sectional area of the cable conductor, strip part
of the insulation layer (C) until the L1-long conductor (D) is exposed,
as shown in Figure 3. Table 1 lists the recommended values of L1.
4. Feed the power cable into the heat shrink tubing (A), as shown in
Figure 4.
5. Feed the exposed conductor into the OT terminal (B), and ensure
that the OT terminal is in good contact with the insulation layer of the
power cable (C), as shown in Figure 4.
6. Use a crimping tool to press the end of the bare crimping terminal on
the conductor, as shown in Figure 5.
7. Push the heat shrink tubing (A) towards the connector until the tube
covers the crimped part, and then heat the tube with a heat gun, as
shown in Figure 6.
Key Techniques
1. Do not damage the conductor when stripping the insulation layer off
the power cable. Determine the length of L1 based on the length of L
at the bare crimping terminal of the OT terminal. L1 = L + Length of 1
mm to 2 mm. If you are familiar with the operation, you can compare
the part to be crimped on the OT terminal with the cable to determine
the length.
2. When placing the OT terminal on the conductor closely to the end of
the jacket, ensure that the L2 part of the conductor, which sticks out of
the bare crimping terminal, is not longer than 2 mm (0.08 in.), as
shown in figure 4.
3. The shape of the crimped end varies according to the crimping tool.
4. Do not overheat the heat shrink tubing because the insulation layer
may be damaged.
