Lesson 1 : Obtaining your eclipse Provision Code
In this lesson, we will discuss how to use the licensing portal to track and manage your eclipse site licenses.

Using the Licensing Portal

Every eclipse site must be licensed to be operational. Though it is possible to install eclipse first and then
license it later, you may forget about it to only be reminded when you try to use it. You may find that it is
best to have the license code ready before the installation and to apply the license as soon as possible.

The licensing portal is a webpage that you can use to view

and track all of your claimed and unclaimed site licenses.

Logging in
Follow the steps below to log into the licensing portal:
1. Open your web browser.

2. In the address bar, type the following URL:

licensing.docstar.com

3. After the page has loaded, enter your username and password into the text boxes provided.

The licensing portal login in the same username and

password for the Support Center website
(support.docSTAR.com)

Create a Support Center login by going to

support.docstar.com and clicking on the registration link at
the bottom of the page.

4. Next, click the login button to log into the site.

5. When login is successful, your site is displayed.

License Code Details
When you select either a claimed or unclaimed provision code (highlighted in yellow), the License
Details area will display what licenses are contained within the code.

For example, as seen in the screenshot below, Provision Code HDTLN6 contains 10 current user
licenses and 1 1D barcode license. These licenses are subscription based as well expiring May
30 2013.

Claimed License Sets
The bottom portion of the webpage provides a list of provision codes that have already been
“used” and what Company is using them for their eclipse site.

Unclaimed License Sets

The middle portion of the webpage provides a list of unclaimed provision codes and which
company the code is intended for. Select the appropriate provision code from this group and
make note of the Provision Code value. We will use this code during the installation.

In this tutorial, we will use the unclaimed provision code QHEEQZ

Eclipse Server Configuration
You’re probably thinking “That was easy” and it certainly was – but you’ve only just begun. Next, we
must configure the settings, which are broken down into the following categories:

 Licensing
 Server Configuration
 SQL Server Configuration
 Index Configuration
 Application Settings

Licensing
1. Enter your provision code

2. If you have internet access on the server, enter your provision code then click Activate. Otherwise,
click Skip.

Licensing provision code must be activated to use the

7. Now sit back and relax as the installation completes.
