ICEC and Membership
ICEC: A Brief
We believe in the dictum that this century is going to be the Asian Century. And this
can be possible only if the two Asian giants walk in step – as partners not rivals.
Despite a shared history of thousands of years, India and China have had a few hiccups
in the recent past. It was with the idea to try and even the past bumps and pave the way
for a fresh road that the need for a genuine dialogue between the two countries –
among governments, industry, and people – was felt. The India China Economic and
Cultural Council – ICEC – was set up expressly with that purpose. Our journey to build
bridges between the two countries started in 1997 with the setting up of two offices in
Delhi and Guangzhou. Today we are proud that our small effort has blossomed into
eight full-fledged offices in Delhi, Beijing, Mumbai, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou,
Nantong and Ahmedabad.
Educational activities to promote awareness among the people about each other.
The ICEC also organizes events such as conferences, seminars and brainstorming
sessions to discuss and exchange views on topics of mutual interest.
A bi-monthly magazine, the India China Chronicle, is also published by the ICEC.
The ICEC has been single-mindedly promoting bilateral relations between India and
China for 14 long years. The only organization of its kind with dedicated focus on
China, ICEC believes in working “on the ground.” Our primary focus has been to
