1. Think of the problem (fear of spiders)

2. Rate the intensity of the emotion
from 0-10 with 10 being the most
intense TofH – Top of Head

3. Tap the side of the hand (karate chop)

4. At same time say “ I have this fear of
spiders that makes me feel XXX and
I’m doing the best I can”
5. Then tap on: ToH, EB, SE, UE, UN,
CH, CB & UA whilst saying for
example…. “this fear of spiders” or
‘I feel sick when I think of their
legs’. Say it as it is.
6. Check intensity and if it hasn’t gone
down, repeat again. If you can, try
tapping on the original memory.
Example: “I’m scared of spiders
because my brother chased me with
one when I was 9……I accept this
emotion and I forgive him” (you do’t
have to!)
7. Except for the KC, always tap on the
negative emotion or belief

WHAT IS EFT?
Do you have a trauma or a memory you would rather forget? EFT can’t remove
the memory but it can remove the emotion attached to it so that the memory no
longer bothers you. It is also ideal for cravings, phobias, fears, pain, anxiety,
performance issues, low self esteem, depression, grief, addictions, obsessive
behaviours, relationship problems etc, etc.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a simple and increasingly popular

therapy which can be self-applied to treat a wide range of physical,
psychological and emotional issues. Clinical trials and studies have proven its
effectiveness, especially for trauma and cravings which is why EFT is used
by the medical profession, trauma specialists, counsellors, psychiatrists,
psychologists, dentists, teachers, support group workers, therapists and
those who just want to help themselves - EFT is gaining popularity because
of its rapid, long term results and no known side effects.

EFT involves locating and tapping on meridian points on the surface of the
body while thinking of a negative emotion to alter the body's energy flow.
Often within minutes, the result is the body’s energy system is back in balance
and irrational thought processes are replaced with logical understanding of the
problem. The simplicity of EFT and the fact that it can be self applied makes it
appealing to everyone, including children.

It is well known by the medical profession that emotional wellbeing can have a
major impact on physical health. Scientists and doctors have recognised this
‘mind-body connection’ for many years and as public awareness grows,
demand for complementary therapies has also risen. EFT is especially in
demand as it rapidly gains serious credibility as a powerful therapeutic tool.
At long last there is a drug free solution to alleviating not only emotional
problems but physical and psychological ones too.

Studies have shown that chronic pain might not only be caused by physical
injury but also by stress and emotional issues. In particular, people who have
experienced trauma and suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
are often at a higher risk to develop chronic pain.

EFT can be used to reduce a wide range of negative issues, such as

reducing stress, understanding and improving emotional health, overcoming
fears and phobias, relieving pain and beating addictions, controlling eating
habits – even simple things such as getting a good night’s sleep! The list for
what EFT can help with really is endless. To fully appreciate EFT, it is best to
experience it for yourself.
