Slide 1

Hello everyone today, I am going to talk about renewable energy. Well, to start my
presentation I would like to analyze, with you, this image. As you can see, there is a lamp
which represents our planet with houses, trees and, the most important, with renewable
energy, such as: wind energy by the wind power. Therefore, we can conclude that the energy
is one of the most important developments made by a human.

Slide 2

So, what is the problem with the remaining non-renewable energy sources? Well, as you
probably know, these energies make a lot of pollution, like: air pollution, water pollution and,
in the future, these will end.

Slide 3

So, since we can’t rely on these non-renewable energies, what is renewable energy? Well,
renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources that are naturally
replenished, such as sun, wind, rain, tides or geothermal energy.

Slide 4

To conclude the first part of my presentation, and to you have the notion of the importance of
the renewable energy instead the non-renewable energy, here, we have the most important
topics that I said about it.

Slide 5

Now, we know what is a renewable energy, their importance but yet, we need also know the
different types of this energy.

Slide 6

Wind energy, wind energy is based on the transformation of the energy of wind into useful
energy, such as: the use of wind turbines or wind powers to produce electricity, windmills to
produce mechanical energy or sails to propel sailboats. This is the biggest source of renewable
energy we have nowadays.

Slide 7

Solar energy, is a term that refers to the energy coming from the light and heat of the sun. It is
transformed into electricity or for heating homes or water through solar panels. Solar energy is
widely used in homes, although it is not the most productive because it isn’t capable of
producing much electricity and, in winter, for example, isn’t profitable.

Slide 8

Tidal Energy is the mode of energy generation through tidal movement. This type of energy is
rare, since it is a practically new invention and needs specific conditions to be installed and
later to be profitable.

Slide 9

Biomass is plant or animal material used for energy production (electricity or heat). This
process involves the burning of natural materials and is therefore not considered, by many
people, to be renewable energy. But, today, it is one of the possible renewable energies.
Slide 10

Geothermal energy, is the energy obtained from heat coming from the interior of the earth.
Earth’s heat exists on a part below the planet’s surface, but in some parts, it is closer to the
surface, making is easier to use. This process is considered a renewable energy because,
although they release gases, but yet, they aren’t harmful, because they contain only water
vapor released by the heat of the Earth.

Slide 11

Now that we understand the concept of renewable energy, we need to understand the
conditions of the countries that contribute to a better future. Thus, these blue lines represent
the current situation of each country below and the green dots represent each country’s target
by the year 2020. For example, Portugal which is our country, hasn’t yet reached the target,
however (pais) have already achieved it and tend to improve their statistics.

To conclude my presentation, I would like to show you a small video that sums up everything I
said today.

Thank you, I hope you like, I finished my presentation.,
