1 Scope of work

Al Tawazun Environmental Services shall decrease sediment and sludge levels from both oily Ponds to an
acceptable level with out damaging the liner installed in the oily ponds. The estimated amount of
sediment and sludge accumulated in both oily ponds shows that the oily ponds are filled above allowed
limit.

Major Note: The initial timeframe required to clean both oily ponds in a minimum of one year to a
maximum of two years. Al Tawazun services shall make sure to clean both the oily ponds starting
Immediately.

Site Operation Setup Includes the following:

(Cabin, portable Bathrooms, generator, parking area, health safety and first aid kit, diesel approval)
1.2 Sediment and Sludge Removal:

 Removal of Sediments and Sludge:

o Sediment and Sludge will be pumped into skips (custom manufactured to be Heavy Duty
leak proof) and to be transported.
 Treatment of Sediments:
o Al Tawazun Environmental Services will setup a treatment facility using our own
methods. (lower cost)
o Or
o Waste treatment plant facility and methods. (higher cost)
 Disposal of Sediments:
o Al Tawazun will dispose the treated sediments into specific landfills provided TPH is at
acceptable levels. (lower cost)
o Or
o Waste treatment plant disposal method. (higher cost)

Note: The treatment and disposal costs are different in both options

1.3 Operation Process:

 Sediments and Sludge will be removed from the discharge pipes and transfer pipes first to allow
the filtration process to restart.
 Above mentioned pipes will always be kept free from sediments during and after operation
 Clean area is provided for oil skimming operation.
 Extra caution to be taken while removing sediments in contact with the liner.
 Al Tawazun will conduct trials on sediments to find optimum treatment and disposal solutions.

2.4 System and Management of the Sludge and Sediments

There are three stages in the system and management of the Sludge and Sediment.
1. Extraction
2. Treatment
3. Disposal

2.4.1 Extraction
 Sludge will be accumulated to one edge of the pond through a pulley system and trawler.
 High-pressure pump will be used to transfer the solid sludge and moist sediment from the ponds
into the skips
 Local tools will also be used to dig in correlation with the high pressure pump to increase
efficiency.

1.4.2 Treatment
  The critical activity is to develop the best cost effective treatment prior to disposal with the
support of Metito. A cost-effective solution needs to be implemented to treat the sediment.
 Al Tawazun will assign a specific area with a number of skips to dry the sediments.
 Al tawazun will mix a portion of the clean soil to the quantity of sediment to reduce TPH and
suitable for disposal.
 Al Tawazun will prepare batches in its facility which will be used for this project only. During
operation Al Tawazun will enhance the treatment process for longer periods before handing
over to Metito.
2.4.3 Disposal

The last stage is to dispose the treated sediment into landfill by approval of the municipality designated
dump area and a NOC certificate to Metito. The treated sediment will have no major effects on the
environment as the pH and moisture content will be very minimal. Al Tawazun is obliged to fulfill both
objectives.

2.0 Al Tawazun Performances and Commitments

 If landfill acceptance conditions change and sediment characteristics Al Tawazun cannot control
the changes.
 Transport, treatment and disposal will be done by Al Tawazun WinSouth cost provided per cubic
meter are indicative and subject to change due to various factors if any.
 Transportation treatment and disposal operations can be stopped temporarily due to various
reasons which are not in control of Al Tawazun.
 This proposal is only valid for the specific quantity of a minimum of 30,000 Cubic meters
extraction treatment and disposal. Further operation can also be continued with revised
quotation.

Furthermore

 Minimum sediment will be left in the pond to prevent damages to the liner.
 Sediment will be collected and stored temporary at site and will be transferred to treatment
facility
 Specific equipment will be transferred in running condition if purchased by Metito.
 Specific equipment will be sold in as is condition tomato at the end of works if not purchased by
Metito.
