The paper consists of two sections; Section I and Section II.
Answer all the questions in section I and any other five from Section II.
All working must be clearly shown.

Answer all the questions from this Section
1. Three bells ring at intervals of 12mins, 15mins, 25mins together respectively. If they
will ring together next at 11:15 am, when did they last rang together? (3 mks)
2. The number N = 1AOB4C is divisible by 4, 3 and 11. Find the values of A, B and C
for which N is least. (3 mks)
3. The sum of the squares is 130 and the sum of the two numbers is 16. Find the
difference of the two numbers. (4 mks)
4. Without using tables or calculator, evaluate
0.015+0.45 ÷ 1.5

(c) Construct a circle C1 which touches the three sides of ∆ ABC internally (inscribed
circle). Measure its radius hence calculate its area A1 (3 mks)
(d) Construct a circle which passes through the three vertices of ∆ ABC (circumscribed
circle) measure its radius hence calculate its area A2 . (3 mks)
18. An aircraft leaves town P (30° S, 17° E) and moves directly towards Q (60° N, 17° E).
It then moved at an average speed of 300 knots for 8 hours westwards to town R.
Determine,
(a) The distance PQ in nautical mile. (2 mks)
(c) The local time at R if the local time at Q is 3:12 pm. (4 mks)
(d) The total distance moved from P to R in km. (Take 1nm = 1.853 km). (2 mks)
19. Complete the following table for the equation.

20. Three players A, B and C aim at a target, in their first attempt. The probability that, A,
B and C hit the target are 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 respectively.
(a) Draw a tree diagram to show the outcome in their first attempt (2 mks)
