WHAT IS THE
OZONE LAYER?
OZONE LAYERIMPORTANCE
The ozone layer is a thin
shield of gas in Earth's
atmosphere that protects the
planet, absorbing ultraviolet
(UV) rays from the sun and
helping preserve all life on the
planet. However, the ozone
layer is not immune to
harmful human activities.
Why is the ozone
layer in dangerous?
OZONE LAYER
CAUSES
The destruction of the ozone
layer is caused by chlorine and
bromine refrigerant substances
that have been emitted for years.
... The following substances that
deplete the ozone layer (OSAS)
can be highlighted: CFC, HCFC,
methylchloroform, carbon
tretachloride and methyl
bromide.
OZONE LAYER
EFFECT
Among these damages are skin
cancer, eye problems, effects on
the immune system, decreased
harvests, damage to forests and
underwater life, worsening of
photochemical pollution in the
troposphere and increased
ozone near the surface of the
earth
