GENERAL INTRODUCTION

2
Recently, we had an interesting and useful field trip in Ninh Binh - a sunny and
windy land with lots of beautiful natural landscapes.

Ninh Binh is a province in Red river delta. It is far about 40 kilometers from
Hanam with convenient transportation system. Nature blesses this land many
fascinating landscape, famous caves such as Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Trang An cave, Van
Long natural reserve, Am Tien cave,... Moreover, Ninh Binh was once the ancient
capital of Dai Co Viet from 968 to 1010. Therefore, this area has many historic relics
such as the Hoa Lu ancient capital, Phat Diem cathedral, Non Nuoc pagoda. The
special dishes in Ninh Binh include dishes of goat meat, Kim Son wine, burnt rice. The
most famous and unique dishes in Ninh Binh is goat meat. Goat meat is a nutritious
and delicious dish since it is served with many precious fine herbs which are very
good for people’s health.

This trip provides me with chances to visit, observe and learn about different
tourist destinations; as well as, travel and tourism operations through practical learning
experiences at tourist destinations and routes. This off-campus practical learning
course also contributes to students’ formation of the right professional attitude,
meanwhile, helps learners visualize and orient their career, and form a love for the
profession and a passion for learning.

In this trip, we are taking attendance of number of peolple on the bus, taking
part in a musical performance in gala, teambuilding as well as visiting tourist
attraction. And I also join this performances with positive attitude, energetic, and full
of enthusiasm. Although it is not a big contribution, my presence and my class also
partly contributed to the success of the trip

This landscape is a place to preserve and contain many submerged forest
ecosystems, limestone forests, archaeological sites, and cultural and historical relics.
The system of rocky mountains, rivers, forests and caves in Trang An is very

boating trip down Sao Khe River. This is one of the many limestone formations that
make Ninh Binh’s scenery so memorable. Enormous karst formations rise on either

made from a monolithic green stone, rectangular box, weighs about 1.5 tons. The base

National Master Nguyen Minh Khong built a pagoda to practice and make medicine to
save people, especially the treatment of tiger transformation for King Ly Than Tong.

burnt rice so alsmot every meal we eat has goat meat and burnt rice.

3. Application of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes.

Before the trip I got the background information about the trip from my teacher.
Following the itinerity, I can know when the trip starts and where it goes, what to
do during the whole trip. During the trip, we can not only learn a lot of knowledge
and experience but also improve our skills by using them in the whole process of
participating in the trip such as communication skills, teamwork skills,
organization skills. Besides, we need have a good attitudes such as polite and
respectful attitude to hotel restaurant staff, and tour guide; dress appropriately for
the destination, respect everyone during in the trip.

II. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTITUDES

LEARNED DURING THE TRIP.

11
1. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes.
- Knowledge: Having basic understanding of route & attractions information in the
program.
- Skills: Demonstrate good communication skills with teachers, guides, co-drivers,
service providers and other students in the group, as well as organizing and
teamwork skills during the trip.
- Attitude: Always comply with the program's time regulations, show a positive
leaning attitude throughout the program, have a proper attitude in communicating
with teachers and tour-guides, co-drivers, service providers at hotels, restaurants,
attractions and other students in the group
2. Application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes contributed to the success of
the trip

Knowledge, skills, and attitudes are essential components of learning. Before the
trip, I researched some information about Ninh Binh, as well as Trang An, Hoa Lu
ancient capital, ... to know more about the place I am going to visit. Especially in the
process of moving from Ha Nam to Ninh Binh on the bus, the tour guide also gave
information about Ninh Binh for students to understand more about that destination in
advance come to Ninh Binh.( Example: in the car, tour guidge mentioned to the
specialty of Ninh Binh is goat meat and burnt rice. So main course is goat meat and
there is always burnt rice served with soup in our meal. )

A field trip is not only to learn, observe and gather knowledge, but it is also an
opportunity to develop yourself, hone skills, and expand relationships. For my major,
the most important factors are communication skills, languages skills, and teamwork
skill. I had a chance to sit on the same boat with my tour guide and my boat was the
last one so we joined the boat with 2 tourists in Trang An. What’s special is that one of
the two people is a foreigner (Singaporean). And I also know a little bit of Chinese so I
and the tour guide talked to the Singaporean guy. This can be considered as an
opportunity for me to learn and improve my knowledge from myself. In day 2 of my
trip, we had a teambuilding program at the swimming pool of the hotel. Thanks to the
combination and teamwork skills we won a few games.

12
One of the factors that contributed to the success of the trip is our attitude. We need
to have a positive attitude throughout the trip and respect, politeness, and friendliness
towards everyone. One way to show respect for others is to be on time so that others
don’t have to wait. Be polite when meeting teachers…thank you for being served. And
after the trip, we need to thank the teachers and school for creating conditions for
ourselves.

III. REFLECTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Overall reflection of the course

This trip helps students have a more realistic view of the location and career
orientation in the future. This trip is generally good, safe, with guaranteed eating and
sightseeing activities, and a teambuilding program full of excitement. Although the
weather was very sunny, the students were able to maintain good health. After this

13
trip, students gained a lot of useful knowledge and information. Although the trip was
short, they visited many places, bringing interesting feelings and many beautiful
memories.
2. Specific and actionable recommendations for future improvements in tourism
operations at Ninh Binh.

In economic development strategies, many countries consider tourism as a

smokeless industry that brings high profits and a strong driving force for socio-
economic growth, therefore it needs to be protected and nurtured at all costs. Ninh
Binh is a province with many tourism potentials with many famous landscapes and
historical and cultural relics. Ninh Binh province needs to actively invest in
comprehensive tourism development, along with issuing management mechanisms,
administrative reforms, attracting investment, training, fostering and improving the
quality of human resources. The tourism products are being expanded in a diversified
direction; tourist routes and destinations are being upgraded in terms of quality. The
accommodation system in the area needs to meet the demand; entertainment points
need to be invested and expanded. The number of visitors to Ninh Binh is increasing
day by day, and the income of people from tourism-related activities will also be
improved

3. Specific and actionable plan to for personal and professional development as a

person working in tourism industry

A personal development plan is a guide that helps individuals identify strengths,

weaknesses, and areas for improvement, and creates a roadmap for achieving goals in
personal and professional spending. Here are some steps to create a personal and
professional development plan for the tourism industry:

 Conduct a self-assessment: Identify your strengths and weaknesses in relation to

your career goals.
 Research the labor market: Identify the skills and knowledge that are in demand in
the tourism industry.
 Create your career search toolkit: Develop a resume, cover letter, and other
materials that will help you market yourself to potential employers.

14
 Put your career campaign into action: Network with professionals in the tourism
industry, attend job fairs, and apply for jobs.
 Engage in networking: Attend industry events and conferences to meet other
professionals in the tourism industry.
