• Malaysian citizen
• Age MUST not exceeding 45 by date of application
• Have registered to pursue the course / study
• Must meet the entry requirement determined by MOHE to
pursue the course
• Have SSPN account (effective Jan 2012)
• No other financial assistant at the same time of study
• The remaining period of study upon application must exceed one
year
• Not pursuing same or lower level of education.
• Not declared bankrupt
PROCEDURES FOR PTPTN LOAN APPLICATION
STEP 1 : Open a CIMB BANK SAVING ACCOUNT (CIMB)

STEP 2 : Open SKIM SIMPANAN PENDIDIKAN NASIONAL (SSPN)

STEP 3 : Buy a PIN NUMBER FROM BANK SIMPANAN NASIONAL (BSN)

STEP 4 : Prepare documents as per checklist and fill up the printed allocation form.
Kindly ensure that your handwriting is readable.

STEP 5 : Submit your documents to Funding Unit at Bursary counter (Beside café)
After 7 working days from closing date, log on to http://www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/ to
check your application status

If rejected, please see Funding Unit for advice.

If approved, Funding Unit will print out 2 copies of your agreement and will inform you the
date and time of agreement signing session.

* Expiry date of PTPTN AGGREEMENT – The PTPTN Agreement will automatically expire 14
days AFTER THE APPROVAL DATE

• There are two applications closing date for each intake – JAN , MAY & SEPT
• Closing date for every intake :

PTPTN will notify you via email registered OR kindly log on to
http://www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/ to check your application status.
HOW MUCH OF PTPTN LOAN WILL I GET?
The amount of PTPTN Loan will depend on applicants financial
background and monthly income of the family/ student.

• Student/ guardian is a BR1M/BSH recipient for current

year, student is eligible to get 100% of loan for that
particular program (but PTPTN will decide the decision based
payslip of the BRIM/BSH).

• Student/ guardian is not a BR1M/ BSH recipient and earn

an income LESS than RM 8,000.00/ month, student is
eligible to 75% loan from the maximum amount for that
particular program

• Student/ guardian and earn an income MORE than RM

8,000.00/ month, student is eligible to 50% loan from the
maximum amount for that particular program

 LOAN DISBURSEMENT
PTPTN Loan will disbursed through CIMB Account via Direct Debit
srvice (split payment) whereby the money will be paid to City U and RM
100.00 will be left in students’ account for every semester. Therefore,
student need to check outstanding Term fee every sem (refer statement
account). Student who gets 75% loan and 50% loan also need to pay the
balance of Term Fee which not covered by PTPTN every semester on
their own or via EPF withdrawal.

•1st Payment – payment will be made within 1 month after

Agreement is submitted to
PTPTN

• 2nd payment onwards – students MUST obtain minimum GPA 2.00

and above for every semester.

Loan will be suspended / forfeited based on the following reasons:

 fail to obtain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of
2.00
 Defer / Withdraw / Deregister

Pay the Term fee Student receive RM100 every semester to
student personal acct bank.

3. Pay Balance of Term Fee

Student need to pay outstanding RM100 or more
than (depend on amount of term fee )at bursary

• The repayment schedule will be ready after 6 months student completed study or
follow agreement duration. Applicant may start pay the loan upon repayment schedule
available.

• The amount to loan repayment should be follow the agreement

• Interest rate is at 1% per year and at the flat rate

• Duration of loan repayment is different for different programme and loan percentage
