introduction
The "trading area" of a city generally refers to the geographical region from
which a city draws its customers and conducts its business activities. In the
context of Mumbai, determining the exact size of its trading area can be
somewhat complex due to its multifaceted role in the national and international
economy. Mumbai's trading area is vast. While it has a strong local and regional
trading influence, its national and international reach is equally significant.
However, quantifying this trading area in terms of exact square kilometers or
miles would be challenging without a specific context or industry in mind.
Local Trading Area: sanatcruz immediate trading area would encompass the
city itself and its neighbouring regions, such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, and parts
of the Raigad district. This would be most applicable for local businesses,
retailers, and service providers.
State and National Trading Area: Being the capital of Maharashtra and a
significant economic hub, santacruz influence extends throughout the state and
indeed across the country. Many businesses and industries headquartered in
Mumbai have a pan-India presence and source goods and services from various
parts of India.
Growth Rate: Historically, santacruz has seen a rapid growth rate. In the 21st
century, the growth rate has slowed somewhat, but the city continues to grow,
driven significantly by migration.
Middle-Income Groups: A sizable part of the city's population falls under the
middle-income bracket, which drives a significant amount of consumer activity.
IT sector: santacruz is also a major center for the IT sector. The city is home to
a number of Indian and multinational IT companies. The competition in the IT
sector is also intense, with companies competing for talent and market share.
Entertainment Industry: The city has multiple production houses ranging from
big banner studios to independent filmmakers.
Retail & Hospitality: santacruz boasts a vast number of retailers, from luxury
brands to street vendors, and a plethora of hospitality establishments, from five-
star hotels to local eateries.
Commercial & Retail Hub: Borivali boasts several shopping complexes, malls
like Indraprastha Shopping Center, and street markets offering a diverse range
of products.
Cultural Centers: Presence of various theaters, parks like the Sanjay Gandhi
National Park, and eateries make it a spot that attracts people not just from the
suburb itself but also from nearby areas.
Borivali, being in the northern part of Mumbai, has witnessed rapid growth over
the years. With the city expanding northwards, areas beyond Borivali, like
Dahisar, Mira Road, and Bhayandar, have also seen development. This places
Borivali as a strategic junction between central Mumbai and the extended
northern suburbs.
Railway: Borivali station is one of the busiest on the Western Line of the
Mumbai Suburban Railway. It connects the area to South Mumbai and extends
north to Virar.
Road: The Western Express Highway runs through Borivali, making it easily
accessible by road. The Link Road and S.V. Road are other significant routes
that pass through the suburb.
Bus: Borivali has a major bus depot connecting it to various parts of the city and
even to other cities in Maharashtra.
Retail: Borivali has a dense concentration of retail outlets ranging from apparel
to electronics. If you're planning to set up a store, it's essential to consider the
type of products already abundantly available and identify gaps in the market.
Real Estate: The real estate market in Borivali is competitive. With numerous
residential complexes and ongoing construction projects, the demand for homes
and commercial spaces remains high.
Parking Availability
Swami Vivekanand Road (often referred to as S.V. Road) is one of the primary
arterial roads in Mumbai, and Borivali West is no exception to the traffic that
this road usually sees.
Limited Street Parking: Given the importance of S.V. Road, street parking
might be limited. If you're considering a shop or establishment on or directly off
S.V. Road, ensure that there is a designated parking area or a nearby public
parking lot.
Retail Stores: Depending on your business, adjacent retail stores can be either
complimentary or competitors. For instance, if you're opening a fashion
boutique, being near other clothing stores might create a shopping hub effect,
attracting more shoppers to the area. But, it's also crucial to ensure your
offerings are distinct to stand out.
