Operator QoS Control

• Control the QoS for subscribers roaming in different networks

• Makes it possible to control the QoS when changing from between different radio technologies
• Allows e.g. to downgrade allowed maximum bandwidth on a PDP context after certain amount
of data has been used up, if controlled through FAJ 121 0070 Gx+ Static Access Control in SACC
3.0 and later mode of operation and if the external policy controller is connected to an online
charging system or an offline billing system

Gx+ Initiated QoS Modification

• Based on user‐specific data from a central subscriber repository the PCRF may, through
subscriber and session awareness reported over the Gx+ interface, apply a specific QoS profile
on the bearer. The context QoS profile can be updated during the session based on changes in
the session parameters that are reported from the GGSN to PCRF over the Gx+ interface.
• Quality of Service based on accumulated usage can be supported by the use of SASN volume
usage reporting on service level over Gx. Triggered by the accumulated usage SAPC may change
the QoS on a context towards the EPG.
Required Configuration

• Activation of the required Licenses and the

relative configuration.
• Configuring the QCI to DSCP Mapping for the
SGW.
• Configuring the QCI to DSCP Mapping for the
PGW.
Note: The EPG supports run‐time configuration of QoS to
DSCP mapping. The new mapping will take effect for a user
the next time the bearer is updated.

Questions
• Are HLR and PCRF alligned in term of QoS
Profile?
• What is the THP value in the HLR? If it is 3
then we should think to method to change to
1 at each Bearer/PDP Activation either
GnOverrideSubscribedQos or change in the
HLR and PCRF.
