" Its better to debate a question without selling it then to settle a
question without debating it"
Greetings to all present here!. I feel preivledged to witness live the
inter school English Debate Competition conducted here in BLS World School. Dear participants, you all have performed at your best and won the heart of the jury members guests, audience present here.. Your accomplishments shows the teacher guided you the best, your parents have constantly supported you too.. The topic of the debate is indeed a sensitive one. There is no doubt that the Indian youth is influenced by materialism which should not be the core of what we are . This thought process has in fact t has made people arrogant and in tolerant. Who is to be blamed? Parents for not inducing these values because of their jobs and hectic schedule. Co-operate work culture which glorified it's basis on materialism and money. Schools with result oriented education. Society were people are indifferent to aesthetic art, means of expression and moments of joy..... Can never flourish. Perhaps one of the core reasons of our present day agony is our attitude towards these aspects of life. Let me tell you frankly, those who think that scoring high marks in examination is the ultimate destination are mistaken. Life cannot be lived with degrees and testimonials only. This way our values won't be influenced no matter how much wealth we have. You need to aquire self confidence, you ought to be assertive and you must be bold. All these traits are developed through debate dialogues focused group discussions role plays and other means of performing. As said by Swami Budhananda " we should conquer our mind first and then focus on materialism" Great schools aim in shaping up the personalities of individuals and preparing for facing challenges in life ahead. Gone are those days when these activities like debates were termed as extra curricular activities, now these are integrated with curriculum that majorly contributes in enhancing social integration, leadership, healthy recreation, self descipline and self confidence in youth. For promoting and supporting such debate competitions I express my gratitude to the chief guest of the event who also happens to be the chairman of the school Mr BL Sharma and strongly believes that every child must be raised to build communication skills, confidence and collaboration so that each of them develops into well groomed and sensible citizen of tomorrow. I am thankful to Ms Mamta Gupta, principal Brain internation school Vikaspuri Delhi, for being today Guest of honour to witness and bless the participants. Today's special guest includes from the member management Ms Sandhya Sharma, Dr Swati Kaushik and Ms S urabhi Goyat.
