1 Scope

1.1 This Standard establishes the conditions required for the preparation of technical documentation to be used in
the planning, execution, control, registration and certification of welding.

4 General Conditions

4.1 This Standard must be used in conjunction with the design, manufacturing, assembly and maintenance
standards for equipment, piping, ducts and metallic structures, with design standards prevailing in the case
of conflicting requirements.

4.2 Each document specified in this Standard must be prepared when required by PETROBRAS N-133 or
in the design, manufacturing, assembly and maintenance standards of equipment, pipes, ducts and
metallic structures, or in other contractual documents.

4.3 It is recommended that technical documents and drawings be prepared in accordance with
PETROBRAS N-381. [Recommended Practice]

4.4 Metrological units must be in accordance with the International System of Units (SI).
When the nature of the subject indicates the convenience of another system of units, it must be written, in
parentheses, after the unit provided for by the SI.

4.5 All documents mentioned in Section 5 must be approved by the welding inspector certified by a Person
Certification Body (OPC) accredited by INMETRO in accordance with ABNT NBR 14842, respecting the
duties of each level of certification, or by the engineer specializing in welding or welding technologist
certified according to FBTS N-007.

NOTE 1 As an alternative, the Welding Execution and Inspection Instruction (IEIS) can be approved by
the technician responsible for welding at the PETROBRAS operational unit in the case of carrying
out repairs detected during in-service inspection and maintenance welds, where knowledge
about the condition of deterioration and the integrity of the equipment in service are necessary.

NOTE 2 All level 2 welding inspectors, who work on contracts signed by PETROBRAS, must have training
as a technician, or engineer, in the metal-mechanical area and registered with the Regional
Engineering and Agronomy Council (CREA).

4.6 For welding services performed abroad, documents must be approved by welding professionals
certified in the applicable main standard, by international entities that meet the requirements of BSI BS EN
ISO/IEC 17024, in which case prior approval by PETROBRAS is required. .

4.7 For welding and trepanning of equipment, pipes and ducts in operation, in addition to the technical
documentation required by this Standard, the requirements of PETROBRAS N-2163 must also be met.

5 Specific Conditions

5.1 Documentation for Welding Planning

The documents mentioned in Section 5 must be submitted for approval by PETROBRAS inspection, before
welding is carried out.

5.1.1 The Welding Plan must contain, at a minimum:

a) cover page citing:

5.1.2 The Production Test Execution Plan must contain, at a minimum:

5.2 Documentation for Welding Execution and Control

The documents mentioned in 5.2.1 to 5.2.5, when required in accordance with 4.2 of this Standard, must
be prepared and approved to be used in the execution and control of welding and must be available to
welders, operators, supervisors and welding inspectors.

5.2.1 The IEIS must be prepared in accordance with Annex E of this Standard.

NOTE In manufacturing, the IEIS and the Welding Plan can constitute a single document, as long as
that the minimum contents of these are met.

5.3.2 The Heat Treatment Record Report must be prepared in accordance with Annex I of this Standard

NOTE The Heat Treatment Procedure must be prepared by a specialist welding engineer or welding
technologist certified in accordance with FBTS N-007 or a level 2 welding inspector in
accordance with the applicable standard.

5.3.3 The Production Test Execution Record must be prepared in accordance with Annex C of this
Standard.

Annex A - Instructions for Preparing the List of Joints to be Welded (LJS)

A.1 General Conditions

A.1.1 An LJS must be prepared that allows the identification (traceability) of all joints to the manufacturing and/

Annex B - Instructions for Preparing the Specification of the Processing Procedure


Welding (EPS)

B.1 General Conditions

The EPS must be prepared based on the codes, standards and specifications for design, manufacturing,
assembly and maintenance, observing the requirements of PETROBRAS N-133. After welding and approval
of the RQPS, the welding parameter ranges must be reviewed to make the values actually used compatible
with the tolerances allowed in the qualification standards applicable for issuing the EPS for performing
production welds.

B.2 Specific Conditions

The EPS must contain, at a minimum, all the information provided for in the respective applicable
qualification standards, in addition to:

a) identification of standards used in qualification and applicable in production; b)


sketch of the joint and chamfer;
c) sketch of the sequence of passes;
d) specification, classification and trademark of consumables; e) EPS
and RQPS number; f) control of
thermal input when applicable; g) special
requirements for the consumable used (such as use of

Annex C - Instructions for Preparing the Welding Procedure Qualification Record (RQPS)
and the Production Test Execution Record
(RETP)

C.1 General Conditions

The following documents, when applicable, must be attached to the RQPS or RETP:

a) welding record report prepared in accordance with Annex H of this Standard, in the case of
RQPS;
b) heat treatment record report prepared in accordance with Annex I of this Standard; c)
reports recording the results of non-destructive tests prepared in accordance with applicable
standards; d)
reports recording the results of all tests required by applicable codes, standards and project
specifications in accordance with C.2.2 to C.2.8 of this Annex; e) quality
certificate for welding consumables and base metals, in the case of
RQPS;
f) reports of mechanical tests, micro and macrostructural analyses, phase measurements,
hardness and microhardness measurements and other analyzes necessary for the
qualification of welding or production test procedures. These reports must be issued and

C.2 Specific Conditions

D.1 General Conditions

Welding (IEIS)

E.1 General Conditions

E.1.1 Welding parameters in the IEIS must be based on the values specified in the qualified welding

G.1 General Conditions

H.1 General Conditions

The RRS is applicable to the welding of test pieces for qualification of procedures and welders and for welding
of production tests, as required in C.1 a) of Annex C of this Standard.

H.2 Specific Conditions

The RRS must contain, at a minimum, the following information:

a) identification of equipment, pipes or other metallic materials; b) identification of
