Executive Order No. 39
What is
Executive Order No. 39 about?
President Marcos signed Executive Order
(EO) No. 39 on August 31. This imposes a
price ceiling of ₱41 per kilo of regular milled
rice and ₱45 for well-milled rice nationwide.
Why was this
implented?
Marcos said that the “current surge in retail prices of rice” has “resulted in
considerable economic strain on Filipinos, particularly those who are
underprivileged and marginalized.”

Members of the Makabayan bloc have dismissed this and called

President Marcos’, move a “desperate” move to quell people’s
anger and frustration as he fails to deliver his
campaign promise.
