MIDTERM ORAL TASK

Course: English 1

ABOUT THE TASK


• Topic: “A place you want to visit”
• Interaction: pair work/group work
• Timing:
- Pairs of students should talk for 3 minutes. Both students should speak for equal
amounts of time.
- Groups of three students should talk for 4.5 minutes. The three students should speak
for equal amounts of time.
• Deadline: As indicated in the course calendar
• Assessment criteria: Read the rubrics to check how your task will be graded.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE TASK

Talk together about a place you want to visit.

- Describe the place you want to visit. Explain the reason why you want to go there.
- Talk about things you can and can’t do and see there.
- Talk about transportation you can use there.
- Talk about how life in that place these days is.
- Talk about what things you need to travel there.

1. Use proper vocabulary and structures:

- Grammar: Present continuous statements and questions; Can and can’t; This and
these; like to, want to, need to, have to
- Vocabulary: Verbs to describe skills; Travel; Transportation
- Functions: Ask for and give opinions; Ask for and give information.
- Real-world strategies: React to news; Explain and say more about an idea; Ask
someone to repeat something

2. Test your video works well before uploading it. If you use an external service like YouTube,
also test the link before posting it.

3. Submit your video. Read specific instructions about how to do it.

Note: If you use www.Youtube.com to make the video, change the video privacy setting to
“unlisted” so your teacher can view it but not strangers on the internet.
