Which concepts stand out for you in terms of how they connect or overlap with each other?

Two concepts that stand out because of their overlap are identity and creativity. I feel that these two concepts overlap

because of the way they compliment each other. An author's identity can heavily influence the way they create

stories or fairy tale lands. On the other hand, an author's creativity is a part of their identity. Without the boldness to

be creative, you are not benign true to your identity.

What did you learn about literature from the activity?

I learned that literature can be looked at through many different lenses and can be interpreted differently through

said lenses. Depending on what aspect of the author's writing you are looking at, the writing’s meaning can change.

The first rotation around the room, it felt as though we were confined to the questions in front of us. I didn't feel as

though I was looking at the texts from all angles. But after Mr. Malashewski switched the questions, I saw the bigger

picture. The questions at the beginning were broad, and could be applied to all texts. It taught me to always seek a

new perspective when looking at literary texts and everything for a matter of fact.

Which concepts do you think are most important or interesting in the context of studying literature?

I think the concepts that resonated the most with me were: identity, creativity and communication. I found identity

interesting because of the focus on the impact that the writer's personal reflection of themself has on their work.

Through the lens of identity, we are able to compare the different ways that authors convey ideas in their own ways.

Furthermore, when we analyze how the author’s identity shapes their writing, we are exposed to their ideas and

beliefs, which can affect our own identity. I also think that the “Creativity Concept” is important. The concept is

similar to identity, the creative writing tools that an author chooses to use in their work can be a reflection of

themselves, and the difference in what things authors come up with makes writing so diverse and imaginative.

Lastly, I am interested in the “Communication Concept”. Throughout history, writing has been used as a form of

communication where authors can express their opinions about society. Literature plays an important role in

expressing how we feel.

How do you think these concepts will help your learning as we move forward on the IB Literature course?
I think these concepts will help my learning moving forward by teaching me how to look at literature through many

different perspectives. These concepts will help me view texts with an outline in mind and show me what to look out

for as well as give me a baseline for questions I can ask and what bigger themes they relate to. Additionally, I

believe these concepts will allow me to open my mind, to view literature through different lenses and after viewing

through these lenses, establish relationships between texts, and with my own personal ideas.
