OVERALL INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES & LEARNING ACTIVITIES

1
- GoNoodle video: Mindfulness

TIMING, SEQUENCING, TRANSITIONS OF LESSON

KEY PROMPTS & INSTRUCTIONS

Introduction / Ask students what has made them frustrated/anxious/angry

Hook (10 mins) this week?

Give students a few moments to get riled up and show them

the video with little context. Eg. Thanks for participating, now
let's watch this video! (Inform them that they will need to
stand up and participate)

Activity (30 mins) Set up a smartboard/projector and show the class the
mindfulness video.

Once the video is done, ask students to take 5 minutes to

reflect on how the video made them feel and write down their
thoughts on a piece of paper.

After the 5 minutes has passed, ask the students to find a

“solemate” once you say go.
Solemate: Someone who has the same/a similar shoe sole
as you.

Instruct them to share how the video made them feel to their
partner. Say go.

Conclusion / Wrap up the activity by asking a few students to share what

Wrap up(5 mins) they and their partners talked about.

Then, ask the students if they know what mindfulness is.

Talk about the benefits of mindfulness
- Feeling grounded
- Tool to use when feeling stressed
- Emotional regulation

Tell them the exercise they just did is an example of

practicing mindfulness. Encourage students to practice
mindfulness.

ASSESSMENT(S)

1. Collect their writings about how the video made them feel to see what they
already know or just learned about mindfulness.
2. Observe their partner conversations to gauge their understanding.
