These diagrams will be marked on the inside of the terminal box and in other similar locations. If star-time is too long when operating in star-delta (connect 6 line), motor start-up torque will be insufficient, and the machine will experience start-up difficulties. | A CAUTION | ifsucha problem arses, carry out a dire the stertime toa level of about ive seconds. put start-up or adjust oter “When dealing with motor related issues, it is advisable to refer to the motor user's manual also. 4 iping (1) Operate an inching operation before connecting piping, ané See Section 5-4, Direction of Rotation.) (2) Remove anti-dust seals from the blower’s suction and discharge pipes before commencing any piping work (3) Flexible joints and pipe support should be provided so that the weight of the piping is not transferred directly onto the blower. Also, if pipe supports are to be employed, they should be used in conjunction with anti-vibration mats in order to prevent any pipe vibration being transmitted to the support face. Don't use the flexible stainless steel etc.~-- for loud permeation loudness, and use an AFD-N type of ANLET 's product (4) The pipes used should be made of steel. PVC pipes can be warped by heat from the discharged air and can also be a source of operation noise. (5) A check valve shoud be provged te proven reverse rotation from sucking foreign objects into the blower. (6) Thoroughly clean the inside of pipes and remove any metal fragments that could possibly enter the blower. And, don't connect flexible joint made of stainless steel with discharge flange of blower. It becomes air leakage occurs because @ sheet side isn't suitable, ifit doesn't do so. Precautions to be taken when using an Inverter (i) The motor used should be a motor specifically for use with an inverter. While general purpose motors have a step down torque feature, the blower itself has a constant torque feature and this result in insufficient motor operational torque at low rotations. This can be cause of scorching in the motor. (2) The gearing range measure should be at 60 to 30Hz. Please contact this company if this is. below 30HZ or if the blower’s rotational speed is below the range noted in the catalog (3) The inverter and motor should both be products from the same manufacturer. (8) Ifan inverter is used, a rotational speed will exist where the blower and the motor will resonate, emit unusual noises and vibrate unnaturally. This phenomenon is all the more likely to occur when anti-vibration rubber is used and, therefore, it is advisable to avoid operating at this. resonance point. 5. Operation 5-1, Piping (1) Inspect piping connection areas. (2) Open vaives fully and make sure that no pressure is being lost from them. Do not operate with a closed discharge side valve. If the machine is operated in this condition, there will an CAUTION _| instantaneous overload with the resulting possibility of major damage being caused. 5-2. Power Supply Check connections, voltage, frequency etc. Do not operate at any voltage other than the regulation voltage. /\ Operation at incorrect voltages can lead to fires or electric | CAUTION | shocks. 5-3. Manual Operation Check Rotate the blower pulley by hand and confirm that there are no problems with any of the internal will be resistance to motion or there may be a sensation of grinding. In any of these cases, disconnect piping, inspect and clean the internals. care that fingers etc. are not caught up in the V-belt or pulley. AN WARNING 5-4, Direction of Rotation “The rotation should be counter clockwise when viewed from the pulley side. Make sure itis in the direction of the arrow. A bolt cover must be in place when operating this machinery. jury. It is very important to confirm the direction of rotation before any operation is attempted. If the rotation is the reverse direction to that indicated above, switch the two distribution leads. Note that the direction of rotation can change when electrical work on the CAUTION _ | control panel etc. is carried out. Carry out an inching operation to check the direction of rotation. Operation in the reverse direction can lead to foreign objects being sucked in at the discharge end, and this in turn can lead to a breakdown, ‘components. If foreign objects have somehow entered the machine, the pulley will not rotate, there The switch must be in the “STOP” position and the power supply must be cut when carrying out a manual operation check. Take ) Failure to do so will expose a risk of objects being pulled in by WARNING | rotating components, and this in tum could possibly result in | iin 5-5. Settin the Safet Naver The safety valve should be adjusted before carrying out regular CAUTION operations. (1) Gradually tighten the discharge side valve and increase pressure to about 10% above the set level. (2) Next, loosen the lock nut and loosen the adjusting bolt until air stars, to be blown out from the safety valve. (3) Re-tighten the lock nut. Use a spanner or another similar tool while tightening the lock nut to hold the adjusting bolt in its new set potion. (4) Once again, start to gradually tighten the discharge side valve to confirm that the safety valve actually operates. (5) When this setting has been completed, fully open the discharge side valve. The purpose of the safety valve is to protect the blower, and it must not be used to adjust the air volume. If air is allowed to be discharged from this valve during a regular operation, it may /J\ CAUTION | possibly be damaged. Also, because air discharged from the valve may be very hot, do not use hands or fingers to check whether it is leaking air. 5-6. Lubrication Oil (1) Gear oil must be replenished before operation. (2) While the blower is stopped, confirm that the oil level line on the gear cover is in the middle of the oil level gauge. An oil change should be carried out according to 6-1 Inspection Standard. (3) The bearing grease employed must be a heat-resisting grease. The specified grease or substitute grease should be added according to 6-1 Inspection Standards. (4) Refer to Section 6-3(1) Gear oil and bearing grease types. | The lubricant is empty at the time of shipment. Be sure to add gear oil before installation. Operation without lubrication can lead to damage. Be sure to add CAUTION | the supplied lubricating oil. Too much oil can cause oil leakage and temperature rise. Refer | Section 6-3(2) Gear Oil and Bearing Grease Supply Volume. 5-7. Noise : Itis possible that there will be a generation of noise immediately after start-up due to the viscosity of the lubrication oil. However, this should disappear after 10 to 20 minutes. Also, different pipe sizes can cause small differences in sound levels even in blowers of the same type. Pay attention to any abnormalities (in sound, pressure, current, temperature etc.) that occur during operation. If such an J\ abnormality should occur, immediately stop the machine and CAUTION | investigate its cause. Failure to do so could result in serious damage brings done. 5-8.Discharge Pressure - Current Levels Check whether discharge pressure and current levels are below those noted on the face plate. (1) Make sure that the cock on the pressure gauge is closed when it is not actually being used to perform a pressure measurement. (2) If the current level exceeds the motor's rated current level, possible causes could be a restriction at the suction/discharge ends or reverse rotation. Stop the machine and confirm where the problem lies. | A\ CAUTION Air Volume Adjustment Since the roots blower is a volume-shape machine, changes in rotation speed will cause corresponding changes in air volume and power output. When it is necessary to adjust the air volume, change the rotation speed by changing the pulley size or by using an inverter. Do not touch the blower, the motor or the discharge piping etc. either during operation or just after the machine has been stopped. Temperatures here can be very high, and burns can result. | | if air volume is high, use an air volume regulating pipe or a rotation | decelerator to prevent an increase in the blower pressure. Do not /\ | use the discharge side valve to adjust air volume. Shutting this | | CAUTION | valve will lead to a rise in pressure which could result in serious | | damage being done. i 6. You will be asked to provide face plate values and a description of the damage (or abnormality). Continued operation of the blower after an abnormality has been noticed could lead to electric shock, fire or other serious consequences. Rapid start-up of the blower in automatic operation set-ups is dangerous when inspections are being carried out. Therefore, AN DANGER _ | turn the machine off at the switch and cut the power supply when any inspections marked 3 are to be done. Also, it is advisable to | hang a “Work in progress” tag on the main power supply switch. Itis important to have the correct dress and safety equipment CAUTION _ | (helmet, safety shoes, gloves etc.) for inspections. ei | 6-2. Inspection Methods. (1) Discharge Pressure Confirm that the value shown on the Pressure gauge is below that noted on the face plate. The cock on the pressure gauge should be closed during normal operation and only opened for inspections. The pressure gauge itself is easily damaged by vibration or heart from the blower, and it should be removed when not in use. Alternatively, a pressure gauge stand (a special accessory part) could be used and the gauge could be connected to the blower using a rubber hose. Either of these options will prevent breakdown of the pressure gauge. (2) Lubrication oil ® Gear Oil Change (Change the whole quantity according to inspection cycle. (See 6-1)) Place an oil receiving dish underneath the gear cover. Remove the drain plug from the underside and allow all the cil to flow out. The oil will flow out quicker if the top-side oil cap is removed also. Confirm that all the oil has been removed and replace the drain plug. Use a funnel when pouring in fresh oil, and fill up to a point at the middle of the level gauge (See section 6-3(2)) * If there is too much oil — Oil leakage or oil temperature rises could occur. + there is too little oil —> Timing gear scorching, heating or noise emission could occur. @ Bearing Grease Supply (The bearing grease employed must be a heat-resisting grease.) ‘The specified or substitute grease is added according to inspection cycle. (See 6-1) (a) Use a grease pump at each of the four grease nipples to top up the grease to the rated amount. (See section 6-3(2)) Note that it is better to add grease immediately after stopping the machine. (b) Operate for about 15 minutes after adding the grease. If excess grease was expelled from the housing drain, remove this expelled grease when the blower is stopped.
