Assalamualaikum and good day everyone.

I’m Ahmad Irfan from SK Kuak

Luar. I want to share an interesting story from the book that I’ve read with
you, entitled “The Magic Pot”. I got this 30-pages book which was written
by Teresa Tan, from my school library.

The story is about an old man who lived with his wife. They were poor and
too old to work. Until one day, they have no food to eat. His wife asked the
old man to sell the only cow they had to get some money. After selling his
cow, the old man got some money. He went to the market to get some food.

On his way to the market, he met a stranger who had a small pot with him.
The stranger greeted the old man and show his pot. He said that the pot has
magic and persuaded the old man to buy it. The old man agreed and gave
the stranger all the money he had. The stranger taught him how to use the
magic pot. When the old man needs the food, he should ask the pot to make
food. When he had enough, he should ask the pot to stop.

The old man thanked the stranger and returned home happily. When he
reached home, he showed the pot to his wife. She was very angry when she
saw the pot. She couldn’t believe that her husband would trade a big, fat
cow with a small, old iron pot. However, the old man told his wife what the
magic pot could serve them. He put the pot on the table asked the pot to
make food. All at once, the pot began to boil. The old man and his wife were
happy to see that. Soon it full of food.

Then, the old man asked the pot to stop. They ate the food until they were
full. Every day, the magic pot gave them food. They were happy because
they had enough to eat. One day, a robber stole the pot when they went out
to visit their friends. The robber put it on the table and asked the pot to
make food. Then, the pot began to boil and boil. Soon, the porridge reached
the top of the pot. The robber ate and ate until he was full. He sat on the bed
to rest and fell asleep. The magic pot carried on bubbling and boiling the
food. The porridge flowed onto the table.
Then, to the floor and to the garden. The pot continued to bubble and boil.
All the animals nearby came and ate the porridge. After some time the
couple returned home. They saw the animals eating the porridge on the
ground. The old man knew it must be from the magic pot. He ran into the
house and asked the pot to stop. He found the robber was sleeping in their
house. The wife’s screaming woke up the robber. The robber tried to
escape, but he couldn’t run because he had eaten a lot of food. Lastly, the
villagers caught him and took him away.

It’s the end of the story. Friends, from this story we learnt that we need to
put an effort to get something. Stealing from others is inappropriate. Other
than this book, I love to read many other books too. They are all so fun. I
hope that I can buy and read many more books and get benefits from them.
That’s all from me! Bye!
