What are some status symbols of the rich and famous? What are some things you are proud to
own? The things we buy often have an effect on how we perceive ourselves and how we are
perceived by
others. These social and economic ties are at theroots of consumerism. The results are
oftenoverconsumption and overproduction as individuals
struggle to continuously stay caught up with the latest ,trends and upgrades. Offer solutions
tooverproduction, increasing awareness of theenvironmental impact, and identifying the social
ramifications.

Poverty and malnutrition is an overarching concernglobally. In India, we not only produce an
abundanceof food, but we also waste an enormous amount, and
it is appalling to see lakhs of people die of hunger.
Food security cannot be achieved merely throughincreasing agricultural productivity. Attention
also needs to be given to measures to reduce wastage.
Research and study the pattern of food wastage by Indians in homes, weddings, festivals and in
other places and their level of awareness regarding its consequences. Collect data and analyze
it. Majority
are found to leave food in their plates. Taste of thefood, differences in food habits and taking
more than required were cited as the main reasons for wasting
food. Mention reasons and steps that can be taken toreduce food wastage.

Do your research and write about stories/story about conquest of fear and what people have

courage. For e.g. you can recall Nelson Mandela'sstruggle for freedom , his perseverance to
achieve his
mission, to liberate the oppressed and the oppressoras depicted in his autobiography.

The story , we are not afraid to die, which you have read in class-XI example of how courage
and optimism helps overcoming the direst stress. Similarly, there must be
many more stories of many leaders, public figures,neighbors , family members or relatives.

Research and relate to the instances of game hunting among the rich and the powerful people
in the present
times that illustrate the callousness of human beings towards wildlife. You may have heard and
read many stories and articles regarding hunting and poaching
and how people take pride in it. But this has only affected the ecological balance and food cycle.

survey and give instances from real life examples with relevant data to illustrate about the same.

Physically challenged people have to struggle far more than normal ones. The actual pain or
inconvenience caused by their physical impairment is
often much less than the sense of alienation felt by the persons with disabilities. Yet there are
several
physically challenged heroic figures who have inspired others inspite of they themselves facing
many challenges and hurdles in life. Research on any
one such person and make your own file on him/her.
