Exercise 1
Fill the sentences with: say, speak, tell and talk.
Gerund (-ing form of the verb) can have different functions in the sentence.
- a noun:

- a verb form in continuous tenses, describing action in progress:
I am reading a book now.
I was tyding the house yesterday at five.
Tomorrow at five I will be flying to Paris.
I’m tired, I have been working for 10 hours without rest.
Before I moved to Warsaw, I had been living in a small town.
This time next year I will have been learning Spanish for a year.

I saw a girl wearing a funny hat.
- after certain verbs like: enjoy, mind, finish, avoid, suggest, keep(continue). etc.
There are also adjectives with -ing ending which describe the quality or characteristic of a
noun.
This book is thrilling.
The word "thrilling" generally has a positive meaning. It is used to describe something that is
exciting, exhilarating, or causing a strong sense of enjoyment and anticipation. When you say
that something is thrilling, it means it is full of excitement and can create a feeling of
adrenaline or enthusiasm.
Example:
The thrilling roller coaster ride left us breathless. (Positive meaning - it was an exciting and
enjoyable experience.)

Future Simple
Formation:
Positive sentences: Subject + will (‘ll) + base form of the verb
Negative sentences: Subject + will not (won't) + base form of the verb
Question sentences: Will + subject + base form of the verb
It's important to note that "will" is the most common auxiliary verb used in Future Simple, but
"shall" can be used in certain contexts for the first person (I and we). For example, "I shall
meet you at the park tomorrow."
Also, in more formal or British English, "shall" can be used for suggestions, invitations, or
making offers. For instance, "Shall we go for a walk?" or "Shall I help you with your bags?"

Words that end with "-ed" can serve as verbs in both the past simple and past participle
forms or adjectives.

The suffix "-proof" in English adjectives often corresponds to the Polish suffix "-
odporny".

An adjective far ( daleki, daleko) has irregular comparative and superlative forms.

*BUT
"Farther" is used when talking about actual, measurable distance between two places.
Example: The grocery store is farther from my house than the park.
"Further" is used for non-physical or abstract things like progress, advancement, or additional
information.
