MEET DUMBALEENA!

Do you ever feel like you should share an opinion which does not exactly sound like
you? But things need to be said. And that’s why I came up with Dumbaleena,
perhaps an alter ego?? OR if I’m being my dramatic and delusional self, she’s a
spirit from JUJUTSU KAISEN. Yes. I’ve said it. No more turning back.
So here’s your guide to Dumbaleena from JUJUTSU KAISEN (yes, I love saying
jujutsu kaisen).

Dumbaleena, currently 31 years old, was born 31 years ago. She studied in jujutsu
high until she was kicked out at the age of 16 because YOU OBVIOUSLY GET
KICKED OUT IF YOU SUMMON MORE GHOSTS THAN EXORCIZING THEM.
Depressed, well not really, she used her jujutsu technique, cursed coffee (bold of
you to assume that I’d actually come up with a good name) on herself, by drinking
300 gallons of coffee, turning herself somehow into a spirit. If anyone drinks a
coffee that she manipulates you into making (which is very watery and sweet), she
lives inside you forever, haunting, hunting and taunting you forever with the worst
puns….and I am a victim of this.
In appearance, Dumbaleena is really short, maybe 145cm tall. She has really frizzy
hair that almost defies gravity. She wears a black and white turtleneck sweater
and shorts because she loves being warm. Her basic everyday look is completed by
black and white socks with STARS and chunky shoes.
Usually, such spirits tend to live in the brain of a human and proceed to control
them. However, Dumbaleena, for some reason, decided to replace my brain’s areas
responsible for mathematical and scientific thinking WITH HERSELF. That
explains my bad grades in mathematics and science.
Despite irritating me with bad jokes and manipulating me into saying questionable
things, Dumbaleena helps me a lot sometimes. With an entirely different
personality in me, I have quite a lot of conflicts within me. But again, with an
entirely different personality in me, I sometimes see things differently and is able
to act according to the situation. Another good highlight about her is that she’s a
good person to read novels and manga with. Our opinions on anime characters
coincide SO WELL that our gasps and cries synchronize when we realize that
another one of our beloved characters is dead.
Since she often uses my soul and body to do and say what she wants, it’s only fair
that I get to do the same thing too. Therefore, whenever I feel that there’s
something that needs to be said which people don’t expect me to say, I use her
name.

Sketching out her appearance and coming up with a background story for her was
so much fun. Huge thanks to my best friend Parvathy for helping me out with the
color palette and clothing. I never knew that Dumbaleena, a name that my mom
uses to call me would one day give so much comfort and happiness to to me.
